I picked this book up with a lot of used books that were being given away. It is not that relevent to me but I thought it might be able to help someone. Here is what it says on the back:

"Few childhoods are more difficult than those in which one or both parents are alcoholic. "A Time to Heal" offers new hope for the 28 million Americans who share this background and its often hidden damages- emotional numbness, depression, fificulty in maintaining relationships, substance dependency, repetition of self-defeating behavior, crippling doubts, and feelings of alienation.

The isolation of these millions has now ended. The patterns and dependencies associated withi children of alcoholics have been identified as one of today's most widespread- and treatable- problems.

Beginning with his own story, and using case histories from his work with other adult children of alcoholics, Dr. Cermak takes the reader through all the stages of discovery and acknowledgment, reintegration and recovery so that the difficult, painful but life-affirming process of healing can begin."
