The crafts begin with the birth of Jesus, including swaddling bands, a manger and furnishings to make the bed. His years as a child include a writing tablet and a scroll. The Jewish faith and reminders of the law are a box for the law, a tasseled shawl, as well as a money bag. A fisherman's net, fine clothes, a shepherd's sling, lamp making, and basket making cover some skills and occupations of the time. The recipes are flat bread, lentil stew, lamb kabobs, and what a party consisted of. Three different games are taught. Other miscellaneous items-sandals, a scourge, funeral drums, and grape juice. With each craft is an explanation of the history, tradition and culture. It's a nicely set-up book with many color photos and interesting facts to learn.
