I read this book over and over in elementary school - the worst part is I can see the book in the library and the color but cannot remember the name....grrrrr.....

I was so hoping you all could help....  This book takes place in an attic - the dolls are courteous and kind to each other they have a life in the attic!  It seems like they were hoping someone would find them and play with them - help!!

It was fantastic I loved it and want to share it with my two girls ...... can anyone help - I thought it was old when I was in Elementary school 30 years ago it must be ancient now - I do not know the publish date  If anyone remembers it please let me know.

Thanks a bunch

You know, I came across those books on Amazon today and was wondering that myself.  The book copyright didn't show any older than 1985 and didn't seem to fit but this sounds like it.  I will have to get it and read it - I really appreciate your response.

Or maybe "Behind the Attic Wall" by Cassedy?  I loved this one.

Oh, this is frustrating.  I'm sure I've read this book, and I still have it, but half of my books are packed away from a move right now.  If it's the one I'm thinking of, the dolls were packed away in a dollhouse that was left behind when the family moved from England to Wales, and the dolls passed the time by telling their life stories.  One was a Dutch doll whose head plugged the hole in the dike, one was a porcelain cat...  If that sounds right, I'll hunt for the book when the rest of my boxes arrive.

Wait, I remembered! - It's "Through the Doll's House Door" by Jane Gardam.  www.amazon.com/Through-Dolls-House-Door-Gardam/dp/0440404339/ref=sr_1_1

That sounds like it could be it - I have ordered it from Amazon - anxiously awaiting it's arrival - Throught the Doll's House Door - I am so excited.  The doll's were very pleasant to each other - I remember that because it was a nice book - no drama or murders just nice.

I will keep you posted - Thanks!!!

When the Dolls Woke is also a good doll story.
