What a wonderful and touching book. About a group of women who couldn't be more different, but come together through their differences, faith, and hard times on the Oregon Trail. Highly Recommended, my first Jane Kirkpatrick book i've read and I really enjoyed it.

This is the 1st book of 3 in the series. Much of it is based on history and is really a well-researched book. It really makes you wonder if you would have been able to survive what these women did.
What would you pack if you had to put all your worldly possessions into a covered wagon
and still leave a space to live in. What would you do if your family died on the trail
hundreds of miles away from anything at all.
I read this book in 2 days and just couldn't put it down. I'm already reading the second book and have the 3rd one waiting for me.
Read it and you will grateful for having what you have.

Book One in the series Kinship and Courage. Very good. Heartbreak, disappointment, courage, joy and hope all in one story.

This was a good book with a great story line. The characters were somewhat difficult to keep straight but the story had alot to it. I would have liked to have seen more involvement with the indian characters and the travelers who just drove on by the women in the story..It gave you something to think about.

This is book number one in a series of 3 books. It's a Christian book and has passages of the bible scattered about in it. It is bases upon women and their point of view as things flow along. I would say this would be a good book to give to a teen to read. It show's the struggles of women who set off on the Oregon trail to make a new life with their husbands and children. Tragedy strikes but the women struggle their way through and end up All Together in One place. I really liked it and kept all 3 books to reread myself and pass down to my daughter when the time comes. It has some action in it as the tragedies go down but it also has a lot of love and comradeship. Another thing I liked is right before you start reading the first chapter on the opposite page is a list of characters which goes along in all the other books as people change, leave, and enter this circle of women.

This book has been such a powerful read. It really puts you in the shoes of these 12 women and makes you wonder if you would have had what it takes to endure everything that they encountered on their journey. A wonderful look back at our ancesters and a great realization of what these women were made of.
