If you love the civil war era, you will adore this book! Kendall is a truly headstrong woman who will do what it takes to get away from her evil husband, by happen chance, she meets the sexy roguish boat captain Brent at the beginning of the Civil War when South Carolina secedes from the union....

I am a huge history buff when it comes to the civil war, ultimately this was my reason for picking up the book. I grew up near Vicksburg, MS. I laughed, I cried, I was biting my fingernails. The plot is amazing, a strong willed and quite stubborn southernbelle who does what she has to do to outrun her evil husband. You are constantly up and down with this book. Yes, it is an older novel, but well worth your time. I went through a box of tissues reading this novel. It has a lot of personal struggle and horror. This is not the kind of book you want to read for a quick read, but a book you take the time to enjoy and appreciate. Way to go Heather, another masterpiece!
