I just joined, or rather I joined a month ago or less and only just started checking the site out. But when I sent a question to my tour guide and replied to her welcome letter I got an auto reply saying that she was gone for awhile or something, taking a break etc etc I do not remember the exact wording. So I am wondering if someone can be my tour guide or whatever? I was told at another site that when you sign up at this site that you were hooked up with a buddy or something, did they mean the Tour Guide? I am really interested in knowing if there are people here who use the other sites as well and which is your favorite and why? Is this one your favorite? Do you find this one easier? Are there more books here? Do you have to wait the least amount of time here? Do you get the best deal here? You can email me because I do not expect anyone to sit here on the forum and say anything negative about PBS. I am just an avid book reader in cold cold Alaska looking for the best site for me. Thanks so much!! Tami |

If you had finished reading the msg you received, it would have told you to simply go to the Live Help link of the Help Center to ask another Tour Guide your questions until yours returns. We help each other with our new members back and forth all the time, your TG isn't gone, just maybe gone for the day. |

The Help Center and the forums are searchable. This is a topic that comes up from time to time. And yes, other sites are not to be promoted, nor is PBS to be bashed. The Help Center has, what I believe, 99% of any questions answered there for you. |

Hi Tami, and welcome!! I'm a Tour Guide (you can see my little TG icon under my name!) and I'll be happy to help you out. You can add me to your buddy list, and pm me or go ahead and post a question here if you'd like. As for your question... I'm a member of one other book trading site, but I love it here and spend most of my time here. I think it's much easier to use, and the selection seems great. Wishlist books seem to move fairly quickly - of course that depends on their popularity.

I am a member of another book site and this one is far superior. For a few reasons:

I've seen this asked quite a few times and the consensus seems to be that PBS is the best. It is by no means perfect, but it is the best of the bunch.

I like PBS the best but belong to 2 others. I usually will post my books here first, see if they are WL'd (or how many copies are listed) before posting them to another site. I have gotten books here I can't get there and books there that are heavily WL'd here over there. So it is a pretty even swap. I like the forums on the other site because they aren't as crazy as over here (as in moving really fast like the game swap I'm doing) but this site has a better group that helps with questions about PBS. The other site lets you assign more points to books and some people are willing to pay a lot more points/credits for some books. The other site lets you get a credit for ARC books vs. having to send with another book here (or send for free). You can also put a description of the book (older, well read, etc). Even with those few pros over PBS, this is still my favorite site and I will try and post WL'd books here first |
