What a haunting, unforgettable portrait of a struggling nation of people. Though this is a novel, the fact that Louise Erdrich is of American Indian descent assures the reader that there is much truth in this compelling story.

Author of Love Medicine and The Beet Queen, her third, and finest novel to date...In it the author captures the passions, fears, and doom of a living people, and she does so with an ease that leaves the reader breathless.

This is one of my favorite books of all time. Louise Erdrich is brilliant at creating characters that will fascinate you. I highly recommend Tracks, Love Medicine, and The Beet Queen!
