This is the second mystery by Alleyn, picking up after "A Game of Patience" but still during the Terror, when men and women are being sentenced to death by guillotine.
Alleyn brings Paris of the time to life with her words. The mystery intrigued me, I didn't figure out whodunnit until the very end. All in all, well written books with a main character I like very much. If you enjoy period mysteries, I say give Alleyn's books a chance - you won't be disappointed. As for me, I'm off to read more history about the French Revolution.
