A JP Beaumont mystery. The body laying naked and dead in a Seattle Dumpster was a shock. But even more shocking was the manner in which he died. The victim, a high school coach, was lynched!! He left behind a very pregnant wife and a very dangerous secret.............

From Library Journal: "This 1986 volume is one of Jance's J.P. Beaumont detective mysteries. Here, Beaumont is called to investigate when the body of a naked man is found in a dumpster. All feel sorry for the victim's pregnant wife, but as the story unfolds, Beaumont begins to question just how sorry she is that her husband is gone." Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information, Inc.

Another good one!

OK - as a cop book, it was good. There were a lot of references that aged it (answering machines were in vogue not voicemails and text messages). I did like the shortness of it - The writing draws you in so much that you don't realize how fast paced and moving the story is until it climaxes (and YOU WILL be surprised!). Overall, I'd have to say 4 stars!

From back of book:

The body lying naked and dead in a Seattle Dumpster was a shock. But even more shocking was the manner in which he died. The victim, a high school coach, was lynched -- a grim echo from a dark past -- leaving behind a very pregnant wife with a very dangerous secret. And a sixth sense developed over twenty years on the job tells Homicide detective J.P. Beamont that this investigation is going to the lethal extremes -- of passion, lies and hatred. . . of the wrong kind of love and the worst kind of justice.

The dead body discovered in a Seattle dumpster was shocking enough - but equally disturbing was the manner of death. The victim, a high school cosch, had been lynched, leaving behind a a very pregnant wife to grieve over his passing, and to wonder what dark secrets he took to his grave.

Fast paced, intense, with many twists. J.P. Beaumont isn't necessarily a likeable character but an understandable one. Routine pursuit of a killer turns into beat the clock, break the rules, whatever it takes to prevent another murder.

One of the author's earlier books. I enjoy the series and realized that I didn't read this earlier book. It wasn't great, just something to read.
