I'm trying to send a book to a friend outside of the PBS system.  When I post the book, it automatically goes to someone's wishlist though. Is there a way around this? I try to send it anyway, but when I enter the friend's address and click continue, it just takes me back to the page where the address is entered, whether I hit "edit" or "continue."

Or even if there's another website I can print postage for books? I'm not sure if I can do it directly through USPS because I don't know the weight of the book, which is why I was using PBS in the first place.

Thanks.

I use paypal shipping to send all my books.  You can get the weight from Amazon or any other book site.

Try posting it while you have your account on vacation hold.  I think that's how I did it last time.

Yes, you can do this.

First you have to cancel the request that you have. If the book is still on Wish List Hold, you'll have to wait for the other member to actually request it. If you do have an active request, click I Cannot Mail to cancel it and remove your book from the system.

Next, search for the book here. Since you have the book in hand, the easiest way to do that is to type the ISBN into the search box in the upper right corner of the screen. This will bring up the book details page.

Click on the button that says More Options and then choose Mail to a Friend from the list that pops up.

Your friend's address has to be one that's in the USPS database of valid addresses. If you're not sure of the format to use, go to http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp and search there before trying to generate the label here.

On the book detail page is the option to Mail-To-A-Friend in the tiny pull down menu.  Use this option rather than posting the book.  You do need to use the "correct" USPS address, with the correct abbreviations.

There is also the Custom DC option for us to mail anything.   This can print a label or postage.

Please note that postage rates change on Sunday.

You can trust PBS for the weight anyway.  It's frequently wrong.
