This is an old story (1989) and I realize that things have changed but these two were over the top. He was the bad boy/biker when they were teen sweethearts and he's come back every year or so and asks her to wait for him. She is now 21 and engaged to her boss, the bank manager who is 25 years older than her. She says she loves him and not just for his wealth but for the security and respect he can give her. Ry AGGRESSIVELY pursues her, takes her out in public on his bike, kisses her (and she returns the favor), and even swims naked with her at the river ALL THE WHILE SHE IS ENGAGED! She finds out the neighbor has been put up to spying on her for the finacee but under duress. Ginny decides to break off the engagement and finds out that her fiancee is also a low down skunk who uses his influence in illegal and underhanded ways. She and Ry end up together, he spills the beans about being rich (which was the reason he kept asking her to wait), and they never make love until the last page of the book.
