Penning beautiful medieval letter shapes can be much more than a pastime; it can be an active adventure into history. More graceful and dramatic lettering designs were created during the Middle Ages than at any other time. Medieval calligraphy enjoys great popularity today because, in addition to reviving the romance of times long past, it is an art form that has many modern creative uses.
The Roman alphabet has been in use for almost 2,500 years, remaining unchanged in concept. As time passed, however, the way in which the twenty-three original letters and those that came later were shaped, and the people who did the shaping, changed immensely. The period in which much of this happened-the most interesting period in the history of the alphabet-was the Middle Ages.
If you are a student of Calligrapy or would like to be, this book is for you. From a smoke-free home.
