So I just looked up the DC on a book I'm waiting for that's going to lost soon. It says it reached my town on Jan 8th but I still don't have the book. I wonder where it is and if they misdelivered it.

No idea about DC but Fedex once delivered my package to a different house and I actually had to track it down and go to the persons house and pick it up myself!

How agrivating for you!

Yup, I keep trying to get that across to those people who come into the forums all indignant saying, "the DC *said* it was deliverred, so I *know* they got the book--why aren't they marking it received??" For all you know, some little old granny across town is enjoying your book. :-D I do hope it turns up soon, Mary.

I've had a couple of bad experiences with DC not involving PBS where some products I ordered were misdelivered and the vendor refused to deal with my complaint that I hadn't received the package because it had been scanned delivered. (Oh yes, it had been delivered all right--turns out it was sitting on my next door neighbor's porch for a week while they were on vacation--which we discovered the week after that when they came home.) And I've had several books from PBS misdelivered to someone else here in my apartment building too, so I know things can go awry. So DC really isn't the absolute guarantee people think it is--unless of course, PBS DC is used--then you are absolutely guaranteed your credit even if the book gets misdirected to Timbuktu!

I usually have the book before my PO scans it as "delivered."  Generally, it still reads that it was delivered to my PO when I'm marking it received.

I know...I have a book that was scanned delivered on January 9th and I've never gotten it...misdelivered?  Stolen?  Lost in a snowbank?  Who knows.  I think the sender is starting to doubt me, but what can I do?

Well I PM'd the sender today to let them know that I'm not ignoring it and I really haven't gotten the book yet.  Hopefully it'll turn up this week.

I mailed a book on January 10th and added DC through my local postoffice. Their system shows the book as delivered on 1-16-09, but it still hasn't been marked as received. I was thinking of sending the PBS member a PM, as it is over a week now, but I don't want to come off as pushy. Also, what happens if they never receive it? Do I still get a credit, or am I just out the book?

I am just hoping the person I sent it to has been really busy and hasn't gotten around to logging on for over a week.

Pamla: your credit is only guaranteed if you use the PBS-DC.  Getting it through the PO or another postage site  is just a waste of money-IMHO.  If the book goes lost then you won't get your credit.  As my original post shows-the DC being scanned doesn't mean it's been delivered.  Don't PM them-that's really annoying.  If the account looks inactive then PBS will automatically mark the book as received.

I had a package sent with DC and it's been sitting in a town 3 hours from here since October of 2007.

Well it just went lost.  I feel bad for not marking it received but I haven't gotten the book. At least they used DC so they have their credit. I think at this point the book has been misdelivered.

I sell on Ebay and had this happen. Thankfully the woman was very understanding and kind. It seemed to sit in a town for awhile then it was finally delivered.

You never know with mail. I've read some weird stories here here and on Ebay from sellers.

I had a DVD I ordered over on SaDVD coming to me last week.  I'm in OR, it came from TX.  First class.  It scanned 5 (yes, 5) times as enroute in the same city (I can't recall which one...San Antonio, maybe?) over a 10 day period.  Huh?

I finally got it but geez.  :-)

Some mail with DC really go on weird journeys.  I use it because I want some "proof" that I mailed it.  Books I mail tend to go through another distribution center after my PO.  At least then I don't worry that anyone thinks I didn't mail it.  Of course, if the USPS never scans it - then it was useless.  Getting the credit is good, too.

The mail is strange - and media mailer is stranger.  What with all this snow and ice I imagine that there are a lot of books stranded in post offices everywhere.

I recently sent a book from PA to Michigan.  The book went to Michigan. Then, it went on a long journey to California!!!!  Then back to Michigan, where it was finally delivered!  I'm glad these do get scanned along the way, though according to my post master, they are not supposed to be.

Well I checked at the PO and they insist it was delivered.  Maybe it was but just to the wrong house.

my p.o. scans things as delivered when they aren't.

Like one day, a package was scanned delivered at 8:39 pm and I didn't recieve it for another 4 days.  And another time, I got my mail at 3 pm (usual delivery time) and it was scanned as delivered that same day at 5:32 pm.  That DC was for a game, so they marked it received even though I hadn't gotten it yet.

My p.o. aggravates me.
