I was in Elementary School in Pensacola FL from 1967 until 1972 (K-4th). I loved to read several books about a Jewish family. The main character was a girl and the book (or books) dealt with various Jewish holidays. i remember the book was large (at least to a 6 or 7 year old) and had great pictures. Any help will be so appreciated. I finally found The Lonely Doll last year. I read it and these Jewish family books at about the same time.

Thank you for any clues you can give!

Is it the All of a Kind Family by Sidney Taylor?

oh, and btw, I love, love, love The Loney Doll.  Have you read the Secret Life of the Lonely Doll? (biography about the author of the Lonely Doll Series). It's an amazing book.

The books you are looking for are by Sydney Taylor and entitled All-of-a-kind Family  All-of-a-kind-family Uptown, Ella of All-of-a-kind Family and so on.  I read them myself in the late 50's and learned so much about the Jewish traditions as well as the time period which I believe was 1918-20's.

thank you so much for your replies. Now I will look those titles up and enjoy a moment or two of nostalgia.
