This all-color book about the peoples and culture of Turkey is an excellent introductory text about a fascinating country. I found it in the Childrens Section at a local library; the text was more high school than elementary level.
This book tries to do it all, covering geography, Turkish history, government and economy, their lifestyles, religion, languages, foods and festivals. There is one very helpful map in the book; however, it would have been more helpful if it were in the front of the book. The text refers to Turkeys neighbors and some of the cities and regions; I was flipping back and forth between the map and the text to understand.
Because the book was printed in 2003 2004, some of the information is dated (whether or not Turkey would become part of the European Union, for example). However, as an overall tour of a very interesting and history-rich country, this is a nice start. I enjoyed it.
