I just saw a huge tom turkey today, walking on the side of the freeway.  He just seemed so out of place! I can't remember the last time I saw a turkey in an urban area.  I guess it does happen, though.

Aren't they funny-looking birds?  And on the freeway, no less......

Because we have had a lot more snow here in UT than we normally have, a lot of deer were driven down from the nearby mountains to forage.  I live in a basement apartment, so the window sills are roughly the same height as my shouders.  Imagine my surprise when I looked out the kitchen window and looked up at a deer grazing on a vine that grows on the exterior wall of the house. He stopped, looked at me, and returned to his lunch.  I guess because I was 'short', he figured me as no threat.  He also checked out my cat beside me in a nose-to-nose. 

 Such a beautiful animal!
