A bullet shattered the life Dana and Ken Miller built for themselves and their boys. Before his murder, Ken was a beloved Chicago minister, whose dedication took him into dangerous areas.

When the police get nowhere, Dana, a former private investigator, decides to take matters into her own hands. Sending her boys off to their grandparents in Florida, Dana prepares to dig for the truth.

Ken's death devastates his friend, Rick Sanchez, founder and operator of Yo, Amigo, a refuge for teenagers trying to break away from the gang lifestyle. Did Ken's dedication to Yo, Amigo get him killed? Rick doesn't want to believe so, but Dana holds both the organization and Rick responsible. Realizing that Dana won't stop investigating, Rick agrees to help her.

Dana and Rick are infuriated when the police find some evidence of drugs in Ken's office. Not satisfied with killing him, someone is also trying to tarnish Ken's reputation. The murder of the church secretary makes Dana realize that whatever is going on, it is much more complicated than a simple hit.

Great character development. Pleasant story with just the right amount of romance to complement a suspence novel.
