I got a PM this morning from someone I had requested a book from.  The request timed out because they hadn't mailed it/marked it mailed.  She said she thought she had until today, had the wrapper printed, did I still want the book?

I checked the transaction archive and there was a button to mark it received, so I told her sure, I still want the book, and if she just wanted to mail it I would mark it received -- no problem.  So she PM'd me back this afternoon that she would mail it out.

What I did NOT check was my current requests and there, sure enough, the book had rolled over to the next person, who has already marked it mailed.

I've PM'd the first person back telling her about the problem and asking her not to mail the book if she hasn't already done so, but I haven't heard back from her yet and have visions of her running out to the post office.

Seems to me the right thing to do is just take my lumps and repost the extra book if/when it arrives.  I know if a book isn't marked mailed before the deadline, we don't have to mark it even if we receive it, but since I already told her I would, and I should have checked for the rollover, this mess really is my fault.

I agree. It is a disappointment though, I know.  Hopefully she hasn't mailed it yet.
