This book had a good sub-plot, but I am sorry to say that I just could not finish it. It was filled with submarine terms that the author used without any explanation. Different types of submarines are discussed with the assumption that the reader knows what they all are. By the time I got half way through the book, I was completely lost and confused. It would have been an awesome book if the author did not assume that every reader would know what all of the different terms meant.

Greed, arrogance, vanity, subterfuge, selflessness, altruism
all inside the contained spaces of two opposing submarines
at war with each other under the Arctic ice. A first-rate
military techno thriller.

They were Typhoons, the largest submarines built and the crowning achievement of the Soviet Union. AS big as World War II aircraft carriers - and infinitely more deadly - their Cold War mission was to ensure Soviet domination of the seas. That was is over. The entire fleet was to be scrapped for billions in American cash. But the Russians took the money and rescued one Typhoon from the cutter's torch - and sent her deep beneath the polar ice on a secret mission that could destabilize the world. The class attack submarine - USS Portland - stands in her way. Now beneath the bone-chilling waters of the Arctic, a game of cat and mouse has begun. Neither side can afford to lose. But only one ship can return to the surface. And only one crew can survive.
