UPDATE:  The PBS Team is working on this matter.  It is not a software glitch.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
.. but you can PM him, add him as a buddy, and send him credits.
 Why does that happen?
On page 321 of the Club Members' Thoughts, I saw a thread titled "Subject: Where has the "fun" in PBS gone?"
Clicking on it, I read several posts including one written by Callen (C.C.)  on page 6 of the thread. Clicking on the "hot" blue link, I expected to see C.C.'s bookshelf and related information. Instead, I read the following regarding profile,  bookshelf, and wishlist:
This member is no longer an account holder.
However, when I clicked on the PM button, the standard message template popped up. I sent ex-member C.C. a jabberwocky  PM. The PM was sent, and a copy appears in my "From Me" folder. Next, I clicked on defunct member C.C.'s "Give a Credit" button and saw that I could send credits. I didn't do that because I reasoned that ex-member C.C. would not be able to enter the account to use the credit or to read the jabberwocky PM for that matter. I certainly did not want to throw away a credit to someone who as a defunct member could not use it.
Here's the question: When a PBS member leaves the group, why do selected functions of his or her account remain active while others do not. C.C. cannot , I assume, open the account to respond to my PM, assuming   notification of the sent PM was received.
Accounts get closed temporarily all the time. The PM and the credits you send will be there if this member comes back.
Several people I have been boxing with just became no-longer-members and I was frustrated because I sent them books and they never sent me theirs. PBS said that they can essentially freeze these accounts until they can complete some of their transactions that they haven't completed. This may account for some of them.
Wow, I hope Calen didn't leave.  She was pretty disgusted with the riff raff going on lately so she might have.
