I'm posting this here, cause I know we've got a gaggle of PA allies and GLBT reading here... This year Lancaster is hosting it's first ever PRIDE events... at last night's interfaith service it was anounced that Repent America is planning a major protest at tomorrow's festival in the city.... of you know of anyone that is already trained as a Silent Witness or someone intersted in getting a crash course tomorrow (Saturday) morning before the festival please email me through my store website (linked in my profile)... right now they have 10 SW and need 100...

THANKS!  (and keep our little city in your thoughts and prayers)

Ok, I guess I'm out of the loop, what is PA and what is a Silent Witness?  I can guess what Repent America is all about.

PA is Pennsylvania. I am not familiar with Silent Witness, though.

Sam, I wish I were on the other coast for you. Good thoughts for all those good people who are going to be doing this.

I might have the name wrong... cause I couldn't find a webste for them.. but it's volunteers that basically stand silently between the protesters and the GLBT parade/events... showing support for the GLBT community and faciing down ingnorance...

ETA: foudn it.. i didn't realize it's a PA group.. I know there are natation ones that do the same thing (like the motorcycle riders that go to the funerals the stupid KS chruch protestes at...  http://www.silentwitnesspa.org/

Wish I was closer to you Sam, we'd be there in a heartbeat.  When we went to Lansing, MI pride a few years ago, there were these wonderful people between us & the megaphone protesters.

just got back from chruch and our memebrs said that the day went great... the county Distric t Attorney came by to personally supervise the police, and thanked all the Silent Witnesses for a job well done... no major incidents, and a good day for all who attended.  :)  (hopefully next year I'll be able to go with DS, but we had a prior commitment, and a store to run today)

Greta and I would love to come next year, too!  Go Lancaster!  We were in York that weekend for her sisters wedding

Just saw this post and as a follower Pa'er glad all went well!  Wow!  Central PA holding a Pride parade...who'd a thunk it!!  (former Central PA girl here).

I cracked up at the post as to what is PA!!!  There is a joke out there...somewhere... "You know you are from PA when..."  And one of the reasons is that you say you are from "PA" as opposed to Pennsylvania!!!
