I have 2 books sent out with PBS-purchased and printed DC, both show delivery by the post office, and neither one marked as received by the PBS member. One shows it was delivered over a week ago. I have sent both members PMs but neither has replied - what will happen if they don't mark the book received? I will be upset to lose credits for this!

thanks,

Melinda

If you used the DC you'll get your credits if they were scanned. Also sometimes they are scanned as delivered at the post office but still take a few days to actually make it to the person's door.

In my building, we have a part-time doorman, and a package room.  When we get packages that are too big to fit in our little mailbox, the mailman puts them in the package room (he has a key) and leaves us a note telling us that we have a package.  Problem is, our doorman is only part time—so if a package arrives on his day off, we can’t get to it at least until the next day.

So sometimes, even though the package has actually arrived in my building, I can’t mark it received for a few days because I haven’t gotten to it.

I have at least one book waiting for delivery to me at my PO.  It's been sitting there for over a week.  I don't know when it will be delivered to me.   I'm afraid that the sender thinks I'm just not marking it delivered...but I really don't have it!

Very annoying.  At least I know it's here in town somewhere.

Thanks for the responses, and the link (sorry I didn't find that myself - so much for my search capabilities). The one thing I am concerned about is losing the credit, which is not mentioned in the help pages. I realize I have already gotten the credit in advance, but I don't know what happens if the recipient never marks it as received - could the credit be taken away, even though the USPS says it was delivered?

I hope that those of you on the other end of this (not having received a package marked delivered) will respond to any PMs the sending member sends you - it's very frustrating not to know what is happening! I realize not everyone checks in every day, but a week to respond seems like a long time - the recipient's bookshelf is not "on vacation" so I don't know if the recipient is out of town or just away from the computer or what.

I guess I've had a couple of not-perfect transactions recently that have me a little on edge, then to have 2 transactions in a row showing delivered but neither one marked received has me even more wary. I'll take a chill pill and hope it all works out!

I have contacted PBS using the feedback form from the link posted above, since it says to contact them if a week has gone by. Thanks again.

Melinda, because you used PBS postage/DC, you won't lose your credit. That's part of the advantage of using it. If you had used USPS DC (not though PBS) you would lose the book and the credit (because of its never having been marked received).

I wouldn't worry too much about it. May is a very busy time of year with graduations, the end of the school year, family get-togethers, Memorial Day.... So try not to worry! Even if it goes lost, you've got and will keep your credit. :)

Thanks for the answers here - this helped me too, as I have a similar thing going on.   I've still got a handful of books on my "Books I've Mailed" list that are showing as delivered, but not marked off received by the person who got them.

One batch was recent, but she marked *some* of the books in the package & not the others & dropped me a nice 'thank-you' note as well.    Kinda odd that she didn't mark all of the books received, as all six books were shipped together   The other package was delivered on 5/7 according to the DC information.    I PM'd the person, so maybe they'll check in sometime or another & mark them off.

OK, so I won't lose my credits - but what DOES happen if a person never does mark a book received, when the DC shows it as delivered?    I'd just like to get the "Books I've Mailed" tab cleared out.

It will go to the archive as a "lost book". I'm not sure the system will detect the scan that states the book was delivered or not. If it does, it'll be marked received by the system in the same way that an inactive member will have a book automatically marked received by the system.

Make sense?

I've got the same issue with a book mailed with DC and shown recieved on 5/1.  I did send her a nice PM hoping she's enjoying the book and that I had noticed she hadn't marked it received yet.   Could be she's on vacation or had a family emergency.  Hopefully she'll mark it received, but I have gotten my Quick Credit so I'm not too worried about it.

I'm on the opposite side of the problem...

The sender used DC and it says its been in my city for probably 3 weeks now, the deadline is the 19th, but I have yet to receive it. What do I do in this case? I haven't tried contacting the local post office--I wasn't sure if they'd be able to find it even if it was there. I'm pretty new, so this is the first time I have't received a book by the deadline.

I live on a rural route and because of this my books are delivered to another city and I must wait for the postman to deliver them to me.  They are marked as received by the post office but that doesn't mean they have been delivered to the recipient.

Also, I'm not sure where you are sending the books but, could be perhaps they were scanned as delivered and it was in one of the areas that was recently hit with tornadoes...just a thought...

I still haven't received my book.  It was checked inat the main local PO and that is all a DC is good for.  It doesn't have anything to do with having gotten to the individual requestor.  That's the weakness of the DC. But at least we know it got to town.  My PO is so screwed up it'll probably sit there for weeks before somone re-discovers it.  Not the first time it's happened.  That's why I always use DC.  Oh, and I like to watch the little mail truck on its way to its desination!  LOL!  ;D
