Ok, this is a thread for USPS horror stories.

I get the Netflix DVD service. Last year when I went to get my mail, I received a mangled Netflix envelope with pieces of a DVD, plus another empty mangled Netflix envelope. I reported this to Netflix and my Post Master, who was very nice. But boy! was Netflix confused. I reported to netflix the DVD was damaged and I needed another one. They emailed me 'return the old DVD'. I had to call them to say "I have no DVD, just a mangled envelope". They said on the phone "Return the old DVD so we can send you a new one." I said again "I do not have the old DVD, and I never had it. I received a mangled envelope. You will never have the old DVD, it has been destroyed, vaporized, obliterated. Please send me another copy of the DVD."

Apparently she was flustered by my use of $5 words and just removed the old DVD from my account, which allowed me to get a new DVD.

Whew!

Over time I have also received 2 other cracked, unplayable DVDs. I assume this was due to a USPS machine malfunction.

Chuck, this is not an appropriate thread for this forum. This is a forum for PBSers to ask questions and have them answered by either USPS employees or other PBSers with helpful suggestions or comments. If you'd like to start a thread with this title in Club Member Thoughts, that's certainly your right, but most USPS employees would rather not have to read the endless complaints about USPS in a thread on a forum where we're trying to be helpful.

I fully expect to get flamed for my opinion, but since Steve isn't here, somebody has to speak up for USPS.

Now, as to your receipt of a mangled DVD last year, you obviously handled it appropriately.

A reminder as to the title and description of this forum USPS Postal Regulations Anything to do with postal regulations and questions...

Agreed.  The USPS employees who are members here really go out of their way to be friendly and helpful in this forum.   They certainly don't need to come here to hear complaints.

Connie, I was already typing when I read your post!  Sic em gal!!!!!! LOL

While I might have problems with MY mailman, I appreciate all the other mail carriers and other PO employees.

And I'm especially thankful for Steve and Connie and the other PO employees who come here and patiently answer our questions.

I'm really lucky - all the people at the Post Office here in Lemon Grove, CA are terrific!  Highly professional, friendly, completely service oriented, doing their jobs, and doing them well!

I agree that it is incredibly helpful to have knowledgeable PO employees here to answer our questions.  This time of year when they are all swamped it is extra important that we let them all know how much we appreciate them!!

"....but most USPS employees would rather not have to read the endless complaints about USPS in a thread on a forum where we're trying to be helpful."

Honestly, there are tons of threads in all of the forums that I would rather not have to read. If I see what the thread is about and it doesn't look like something I would want to read, then I don't and I move on. Please don't be so rude to Chuck.

Yes, this isn't the correct forum, but I don't see anywhere in Chuck's post where he was complaining. He wanted to share his experience with the Netflix DVD's and never said anything rude about USPS workers. He even said it was probably the machine that messed up his DVD's. I don't think he made any rude comments.

Honestly, it appears I mis-named my thread subject, my issue was more with Netflix and their inability to understand they have multiple copies of the same DVD. USPS does a good job with only occasional mangled mail, and that's not the fault of the employees. I also thought it was somewhat amusing that, though one DVD was in pieces, the USPS still managed to deliver it. This was supposed to be a "wow that's interesting" thread, not a whine session.

I am currently trying to have this thread deleted. I do not see any "delete" button though.

You cant kill threads you just have to let them fade into oblivion (takes 45 days after the last post). Oh and honestly no one was rude to Chuck. They just pointed out that this forum is not for general conversation it should go in Club Members Thoughts.

Po-ta-to   Po-tat-o.

They accused Chuck of something he didn't do (which was complain about USPS workers), so that was rude to me. Just sayin'. :)
