Hello,

I just came back from the post office. The USPS can not read the PBS Delivery confirmation scans. As you know the DC price has gone up. I had to pay full price for DC and had all new DC numbers being created at athe post office. The clerk suggested there is a glitch in the PBS system that is not tying properly into the USPS. Can someone please check into this.

Thanks,

Alice

Me too!  My postmaster was nicer (than the clerk/and yours) and didn't charge me for the dc, but told the clerk to scan it with the handheld, so hopefully it still tracks, but????  They said their system didn't recognize dcs at all anymore (they changed the name, and it's all internal tracking numbers now, you've seen those extra printed tracking labels with the pink scan thingy at the bottom...only readable/trackable "internally" so you can't look them up to see where your pkg was last scanned).

Close Julie, but a little wrong. It did get renamed and the Delivery Confirmation labels (green ones) are no longer valid, BUT the "pink scan thingy" is now trackable my the customer. Tracking is free with Priority and Standard mail (the new name for Parcel Post) and is still chargable for first class parcels and media mail. If you don't pay, the number still goes on, but the customer is not provided with the number.

As for it not reading the preprinted label, I think that's just a glitch.

I printed two PBS labels last night with DC.  Planning to take them to the PO later for postage...is this going to be a problem?

Apparently, it is just a glitch. I mailed four books (one package) and used DC from PBS. When I got to the P.O. I was told everything was screwed up regarding DC. However, I was also given a new DC for no extra cost at the P.O., and a new number. They said the new number would be trackable, not the one on the PBS label.

As stated above, DC is now free on some other postage categories where it wasn't before.

As Dad use to say, "Technology isn't always progress."

I was told  you get a confirmation for first class and media mail so the ones printed out on PBS labels are not valid as USPS issues new ones. So how is that going to work thru PBS? I am so confused. I like getting my credits right away.

Yes. That sounds like it is going to mess up the instant credit option. Not good.

It is not just that but you have to pay 90 cents for DC. Adds up for our swaps that we need to use DC.

I would suggest someone contact the Admin. Team by clicking on the "Contact Us" link located at the bottom of this page.  If they have more info, they will be able to give it to you and if they don't, I know they would appreciate knowing this information.

Does the PBS Delivery Confirmation Status work when DC's are scanned into it?

I did send an email and will let you know what I find out. The PBS scan is voided as the USPS issues new ones so don't pay for it if you print a label, you are wasting your money.

Is this just for the DC-only option, or is it for the PBS printable postage barcodes, too?

Same thing happened to me.  I printed before the postage change and just reprinted the labels with the correct postage so I hope that corrects the problem!

This is what I'd like to know. I just did postage for and mailed 6 books. Dropped them in the APC. Am I going to see scans or no? It would seem not.

If not, we're back to the problem we had awhile ago for the games. If the scans aren't readable by those that need to know, what now?

I had a DC only book for a swap that I used custom DC and a FIFO book that I printed address and DC neither worked. I guess we will need to wait to hear from our PBS reps.

Hello.

I see ELIZABETH in the WL VB had no issues with her IBC or 9452's being Scanned when she Today Mailed multiple packages.

(the labels were printed and posted yesterday, and I used the Internal PBS Tracking link to check them)

Also, I Blue Boxed 2 packages using printable Paypal postage on Saturday, and I see no issues, and as those were scanned Today too.

Earlier this Morning, I was aware of some problems with USPS' Site being unavailable to check tracking numbers.

Lastly, and for those that had issues, were the Mailing Labels printed Today, and as I don't see any issues with previously printed labels?

Howdy again:

I couldn't find anything Online that confirms the Green Label PS Form 152. is no longer being used at the Retail Locations, and the USPS Site still refers to them:  Link

Retail purchased Tracking is 90 cents and electronic purchased label Tracking is 20 cents:  Extra Fees

eta: I also saw this page that lists all the electronic purchased postage providers: Link   (PBS printable Postage uses one of these Services)

Four of mine (postage and DC) were printed Friday, mailed today. Two were printed today and mailed today. I don't normally see scans until later that same night I mail or the next morning so I'm not expecting to see any now. Guess I'll see what I get in the morning. I also hope I have the correct postage on the books giving that I printed them the other day. Sigh. I meant to mail earlier but was down with that blasted flu. What a pain.

Howdy again:

I did find some information over at eBay's Shipping Discussion Boards where the Manual Green Label Tracking Number is being Replaced by the Pink Label that Prints with the Customer's Receipt when they visit their Post Office Retail, but that doesn't apply to the pre-printed electronic Postage mailing Labels that already have a DC#.

(I am not sure if this relates to the issues some are having)

Lastly, the Discussion Boards do mention how many issues are created when individual Post Offices seem to have their own way of handling Tracking, and contacting the USPS 1-800 would help in resolving any longer-term issues...

OK, I just returned from the post office.  The green band Delivery Confirmation stickers are apparently now obsolete, and have been replaced by the pink banded ones (applied only at USPS counter, and data previously not available to customers or USPS branches)...those ones that used to be internal tracking only.

As others have commented, my DC only PBS labels were not accepted (printed the afternoon of January 27th), and counter staff replaced PBS DC with their new pink band ones for .90 each...and of course no connection to PBS and therefore voiding my credit assurance and on-site tracking ability.  The new tracking number is printed on my PO receipt, and supposed to be trackable at USPS online.

If it stays this way, PBS members that want credit assurance are probably going to have to buy scales and become PBS postage users frown  And even more hassle for gamers.

ETA - if the changes became effective the 27th, why was USPS still generating DC only numbers to venders on the 27th?  Not good customer service to neglect informing your customers and setting us up for failure with unusable DC numbers.

I had one that I mailed today - used PBS DC only and Postal metered tag for the postage - the postal clerk didn't have the capability to charge the PO portion of the PBS DC  (PBS has gone up to $.30), but she scanned it anyway and then punched in the ZIP Code on her machine, but didn't charge me.  I have gotten my Quick Credit already, so the PBS DC does work.  Good luck. I also had a post office visit today and my post master confirmed th green DC forms are obsolete.  She explained that "delivery confirmation" is no longer an offered service but you can add on "USPS tracking" for $.90 to a media mail package.   The number is assigned electronically and printed on your receipt.  She added the same pink and white tags they have been adding for about a year now (when you don't use DC)  to the side of the label.

I believe she said "USPS Tracking" is free on priority mail and the service formally  known as parcel post, but don't quote me on that, I wasn't listened because I was still confused on the whole no DC thing.
