I liked this science fiction novel of the past intruding into the present. I especially liked the scene where Joe sees an early twentieth-century elevator instead of the modern one that should be there.

Peter! You gave me this book in '04 before you left for Japan. (Along with a bunch of other books like Lord Foul's Bane) I finally got around to reading it and it was AWESOME. It was a short book but it's big on content, there are so many cool ideas here, and the setting is very intriguing. The mystery is very invol...ving and I can see that this being published in the 60s was a huge influence on science fiction in all the years to come. And the twist at the end! Wow. It has psychics, inertials, time travel, space travel, distorted realities, and explosions, what more could you ask for in a book under 203 pages? It made me see the world differently and I got you to thank for it! Thank you Peter for the gift of UBIK!

This is one very weird yet very creative story. I read it because it was on the Time Magazine 100 list and because i've read a couple of his other books, which are really good. This is a pretty cool story, with lots of plot twists and turns.

Dick's books are really gumshoe mysteries, set in a weird future. I'm not a huge mystery fan (they make me feel dumb for not being able to solve them), but I am a sci-fi fan, and Dick's visions of the future are pretty...Unik.
