caviglia  - did you track it on USPS - it maybe sitting in a sorting facility and not in route.  I found that I had enroute - enroute - enroute and it was at a sorting facility - it scanned when arrived was there a couple of days and then scanned - it stated finished sorting  then the next scan was the unit.  I have no idea if they have different info or not but worth a try.

It is a sorting facility - I'm a little concerned that it may have gotten seperated from its custom form, and that's what the hold up is.

Maybe that is what happened to books I sent out over a month ago. They have gone off the radar.  I am hoping (since they are heading to Japan) they are taking the scenic route.  I am bumming because there was a book she really wanted - no way it would be found on this site or anywhere else - so I purchased it and threw it in as a bonus book.  I keeping my fingers crossed it eventually gets there. I hope it works out.

Ok, its been 16 years since I was in New York, but is JFK airport considered  in Jamaica?

If so, the book is probably out of the USPS hands, and on a military transport plane for mail

I am sure it will get there, I have received numerous books with no customs form.

Was it mailed media mail or first class?  Lately that has been making a difference, it didn't use too.

And FYI, I am in Europe, and my mail for some reason has been taking longer than usual, it took 3 weeks for a package from my mom to arrive, and they usually arrive no later than 7 business days using priority mail.  Also, I had a set of Netflix dvds take almost  month.

Something wonky is going on with our mail, believe me, we live for our mail over here, so we echo your frustration.

Hold out hope!!

I have sent off about 25-30 books to APO/FPO addresses  Some of them take a seemingly inordinately long time to arrive, but I have never had one fail to arrive.  Often they may time out and be declared "lost" but most receivers with this kind of address know to resurrect the book from their transaction archiver and declare it to have arrived after all.  I think about 1/3 of the ones I've sent to these addresses had this happen to them, but all eventually arrived and I got my credit.  Be Patient!!

Sigh.  It's still being scannned every day or so in Jamaica.  It's possible it's in some black hole in or around JFK.  I'm sure it will arrive eventually, it's just so odd having it sit in the same unit being scanned again and again and again...

Hi! This is Becky and I think it's actually the book you sent to me that you are writing about! I just checked and, yep, it looks like it is getting scanned a few times. Echoing what Leigh said, the mail has been REALLY slow lately. I'm still waiting on an item I bought from Amazon on Aug 15! ... No worries. I'm sure it will get out of jail any day now.  Plus, believe me, I have plenty to read ...though this book does look interesting. Take care.

Caviglia, I'm sure that your book to Becky will eventually get to her. A while back, an APO member sent me a book on March 3rd and I finally received it on May 5th. That's two months! It seemed a little weird seeing March 3rd on the postage sticker on a nice springy day. lol  I'm glad that Becky responded to your post. Hopefully, her posting will ease your frustration.

FYI, media mail typically takes 3-6 weeks for me--last package I got took 7 weeks!  We're used it, so if you can be patient so can we.  :)  And DC works only to the U.S. processing facility--it's normal for it to slip into the Twilight Zone (aka military transports LOL).

Caviglia - there is hope - the books I sent arrived safe and sound.  They took forever, but they arrived.

Just wondering, Caviglia, since it is October 2nd now, if your book finally arrived at its destination?

It did!  After being scanned multiple times in Jamaica - once it actually left Jamaica Becky received it relatively quickly.  Yay!
