If you are not interested in Ukrainian embroidery, you will still find a lot of historical info on textiles to capture your mind. I have always thought this type of embroidery to be so beautiful! Much of it has to do with the pagan nature deities they worshipped, such as motifs for the sun or the mother goddess. The authors choose to write that these meanings have been forgotten. I doubt that! despite conversion to Christianity. In any case, the history focuses on sentimental meaning of various artifacts and their use, enhanced by embroidery, rather than origins. That said, the history is brief and there are many motifs for embroidery, as well as a model for creating your own blouse to embroider. Definitely a go-to book.
