He turned 85 in August and was a powerful witness every day of his life about his beloved Saviour. He was one of those wonderful individuals who could witness mightily without being "pushy" or turning people off. Hundreds of people came to his visitation- I cried when I saw how many people he had touched throughout his life. The line to sign the visitor's book and go thru the receiving line stretched from the top of the room (long room!), out into the lobby and then out the doors of the funeral home. I was so touched because grown men were literally weeping uncontrollably as they filed past the casket and on to speak to my aunt and my dad. This man, who didn't even finish high school, was blessed by God with an intimate knowledge of God's word because he prayed constantly and instantly, sought after the heart and mind of God, read his Bible every day, and tried every day to live his life in the pattern Christ demonstrated for us. He really knew how to listen for the voice of God as he prayed and as he waited for an answer. His strength of faith has always been a model for me and I feel his loss so deeply. I do rejoice that he is now with his Lord, whom he loved (loves) so deeply. I truly that this is the type of person that we need to make our hero instead of athletes and actors.

I'm so sorry, but glad that you could see just how many people were touched by his life.

May his life be a guide for you to pick up his torch he carried for sooooooooo long. May we all remember those who carried the torch in our lives.

May we all try to be a torch in someones life today!  God Bless you and your family.

    Pat,

Sorry for your loss. What a powerful message he has been to many , threw our Lord Jesus Christ . It is amazing to know that threw all things , anything is possible . Here was a man with not an education and look at the outreach He has brought o many .  He will be sadly missed , but we know that He is home with the Lord .

Pat - your uncle sounds a lot like my grandfather. I still miss him although it's been close to 20 years now since he passed away. I take great comfort in the fact that I will see him again someday and knowing that he is praising God to his face now as he did in his songs and prayers when he was alive.

Pat,

It sounds like your uncle succeeded in being the kind of person God calls us to be.  I celebrate his life with you!

What a wonderful tribute you've written!  I'm sorry for your loss, but isn't it great that this life isn't the end?

Pat, I am also very sorry for your loss!

Thank you for sharing his memory with us.  Your recollection of his life and what he stood for is a long desired legacy that I too would hope to leave, if only I could be so dedicated to our Lord.  After reading your wonderful post of a man you truly loved and admired, it made me rejoice in knowing that I will meet him some day in heaven!

I know this is a loss right now, an emptiness, but I pray that God will fill your hearts with the joy of his memories and the knowledge of seeing him again!
