Three signs that something is very different with your new man: — 1. He sleeps all day . . . which would be annoying except he's so attentive at night. — 2. He's attacked by sword-wielding assailants, yet insists he can handle it on his own. — 3. He never seems to age. — Heather Westfield has always lived a quiet life, but that all changes w...  more »

This is the first book I read in this series before I found out there was even a series called Love at Stake. The book has eough twists and turns to keep the reader satisfied if not highly. I think the bad guy could have been tougher. Granted he did kill at least one person but not much fighting skills at least that I can see from reading the book. There are some great comical moments to lighten up the seriouness of the book. I found the cockroach episodes to be a riot. Also the houskeeper with the big guns (i.e "Mr. Glock", "Mr. Beretta", etc.) had me laughing as well. Sex scenes were done to be hot enough to scorch but didn't overload the plot of the story. If you like your Vamps with some sex on the side I recommend this book. Just start the books at the beginning so you have a chance to be introduced to the main Vamp players from the start.

Book four in the LOVE AT STAKE series. This is Jean-Luc's story. Not as good as the first three, but a fast read. Looking forward to Connor's story.

Although I didn't enjoy this one quite as well as Be Still My Vampire Heart it was still an excellent read. With so many romances and so few plus sized heroines when one comes along it really stands out.
This is the 4th book in Sparks' Love at Stake series and I read it out of order so you can too if need be. Although I would very much recommend rushing out and obtaining the other ones too. Heather and Jean-Luc meet in a whirlwind manner at his premier party to open his newest store and display some of his most resent fashion designs. Jean-Luc mistakenly assumes that Heather is stealing his designs when she actually was inspired to take his sized zero creation and make it fit a real woman. In doing so...creating her own fashion. He confronts her and then the misunderstandings start. Really...it gets worse then her being accused of stealing a world famous fashion designer's designs.
Worse meaning Jean-Luc's archenemy from centuries past thinking Heather is Jean-Luc's love. So what's a really old yet incredibly handsome vampire to do...take Heather and her little daughter into his protective custody....that's what.
Heather isn't too keen on the idea but after coming into peril from Lui she changes her mind. Too bad her ex-husband doesn't like the idea of her "living" with Jean-Luc.
So throw in one manly man of a fashion designer, one plus sized independent mother, a donkey of an exhusband, a gun toting elderly nanny and a handful of interesting characters you have got yerself a highly entertaining book. Trust me.

This book was just as good as the rest of the series. It's also nice to read about a leading female character who's a size 12 for once. This book continues on with the humor and characters that have gotten me hooked to this series.

I just LOVE this series! Each one leaves me very anxious to read the next. I found Jean-Luc to be one of my favorite heroes...his sensitive side was my undoing. Sparks' wit and unique sense of humor is never disappointing. I'll never think of cockroaches in quite the same way again. The next book in the series is on it's way to me from another member...I can't wait to get it! If you like your paranormal romances light with a touch of humor, this series is for you.

Famous fashion designer, Jean-Luc, opens shop in Texas planning to disappear for 25 years so he can reinvent himself as his own son afterwards. Heather meets him at opening show;during tour he gives her, saves his life (unknowlingly) by picking up a silver belt to hit attacking Mal-content Luc with, thus burning him and scarring him away. Day guard Phil Jones along with Ian protect Jean-Luc,Heather and her daughter. Ian takes the stay-awake drug 12 days in a row to help during the day; side benefit being he ages 12 years and no longer looks like the 15 yr old boy he's had to live like since being turned. This has a lot of good dialogue and was fast-paced. A great book in the series as it plunges us further into the vampire and were-animal world.

My favorite of the series. There's just something about the main characters that I love. A must read in my opinion.
