I understand why people might marked a book mailed before it is actually mailed, now. Well actually, I could understand reasons before, but it just hit me personally yesterday. I mailed a book from the PO, but got busy when I got back home and didn't mark it mailed right away. Then later we lost Internet, cable TV and phone service (they are all bundled with one company). I couldn't mark the book mailed. I was afraid that I would forget by the time service was restored. (I could have put a sticky note on the computer I guess, but I was busy preparing dinner, etc, and didn't think of it.). But good 'ole PBS. When I logged on this morning (everything is working now) there was a reminder from PBS to mark the book mailed. So I did, but had forgotten all about it. Gotta love those reminder e-mails! |

The same thing happened to me yesterday. I usually print, wrap and mark mailed about 10 minutes before I leave for work in the morning. (I drop the books in a blue box in front of work about 15 minutes later, so I have absolutely no guilt at all about doing this...sorry, purists...this system has worked for me for years and I'm not going to change. LOL) Yesterday I got a phone call between the wrapping and marking mailed and then before I knew it, I was running late, so shut down the computer and went to work. Mailed the books and totally forgot I hadn't marked them as such and only remembered several hours later when I logged on to see them still sitting there on my 'to be mailed' tab. I hate it when my routine gets broken. Cheryl |

I always mark mailed before I mail. If the book's going out the door with me that day, I mark it mailed even though it may be a couple of hours before I actually drop it in the blue box. |

Yeah I always mark mailed before I actually drop them off at the PO. It's just my routine, and 99% of the time they are mailed the same day. Maybe a few times they are mailed the next day. It doesn't bother me when people do that as long as they are within a day or two of the mark mailed date. I just received a book I had on my wishlist for over a year... it took a good 3 weeks to get to me (from when they marked it mailed), so I was nervous it wasn't coming. Well sure enough, their electronic postage strip from the PO indicated they mailed it a full week later than when they had marked it mailed *sigh* |

I always mark mailed in advance too. I wrap and mark the night before I am going to the PO and then I drop them off the next day. |

3 times I got all optimistic about the book being mailed, 3 times some weird thing happened that kept it from being taken to PO. Once it was Snow...in alabama..!!!!..for the first time in 30 years or something. Even the mail carrier did not come that day. Another time it was a forgetful hubby. I just KNOW the minute I hit the "mailed" link, something will happen before the book meets PO. Last Edited on: 8/31/10 3:30 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I also mark before I mail-usually. I am going to swing by the post office on the way to work-or possibly on the way home from work....anyway, the next day, so it is marked the night before. |

I actually have two mailboxes on my route. My moms and my own. Atm i drive half a mile up the road and use my moms printer. (mines out of ink =() mark it mailed when i print, wrap the book, and drop it in the mail on the way down her driveway. If it comes back to her mailbox (ive had some issues until i got a postal scale. >.>) then i add stamps, put in my mailbox, and re-mail on my way home. Its always mailed out within one hour of marking it mailed, and 3-4 hours of getting one back. Of course..l have no life either. =P |
