why people have rc because they have probably been burned a time or 2. I had a bad one. It really does kind of turn you off when they go on and on . I had one today about markings in a book, well my book is like new so no problem there but they do get carried away. I can see why people refuse sending books. Sometimes you feel like saying go buy a new book !

I like getting credits more than I like punishing people who have RCs.

I only decline if I can't understand what they want, or if I can't meet the condition.

I have a RC and I have to laugh sometimes when it is declined .. the reasons that I have gotten are often nonsensical, for the most part. (my RC is that hardcovers should have dustjackets ... nothing that you would think is that hard to understand).

I used to accept RCs like yours but I got burned on that "seemingly straightforward" RC.  The requestor had mistakenly put the paperback on their list, not the hardcover and tried to RWAP that I'd sent the wrong book.  It eventually worked out in my favor since it was clearly the correct book but the time and hassle it took to get it all fixed was the last straw for me and I now decline even the "simple" RCs.  Your nonsensical responses may have been from people like me who've just reached the end of their rope :)

While I accept the RCs that I can do (plastic wrap, not from smoking household, dust jacket included, etc) I've gotten two (for the same book, ironically) that had either "like new" or "good condition" since those are so subjective, I declined both of those.

Mindy, it doesn't sound like your issue was related to the RCs.  The user just requested the wrong book and would have caused a stink regardless of whether or not they had RCs.
