Understanding Engineering Mathematics: A 3 Step Approach. Previously announced as Review, Revise, Reinforce: Mathematics for Engineering
Understanding Engineering Mathematics A 3 Step Approach Previously announced as Review Revise Reinforce Mathematics for Engineering Author:William Cox Mathematics is often the most challenging aspect of engineering courses for undergraduates. 'Understanding Engineering Mathematics presents a completely new and modern approach to learning mathematics, specifically aimed at first-year students of engineering. This new approach, devised and pioneered by the author in his own lectures has led to v... more »astly increased levels of mathematical success among his students. The purpose of the first half of the text is to ease the student's transition to university by building on their own particular background in mathematics. This is achieved by a series of self-administered diagnostic tests, which enable the student to review their own strengths and weaknesses. These tests are linked to revision material and full solutions relating to the topic, so that a student can 'top up' as necessary. Finally, knowledge and skills are reinforced and consolidated through a series of graded exercises.
Following the supportive transition material of the first half, the second half of the book covers all the new material encountered in first year engineering mathematics. Starting with the easier topics and moving on to more difficult areas enables the student to gradually develop the independent learning skills required for more advanced study.« less
