Thomas F. (hardtack) - , reviewed From Union Stars to Top Hat: A Biography of the Extraordinary General James Harrison Wilson on + 2555 more book reviews
Very objective biography about one of the major Union Army cavalry leaders of the American Civil War. The author relates how Wilson's natural abilities to lead and learn developed his command skills. On the other hand, Wilson's ego and unwillingness to admit he might be wrong kept him from attaining the life-long prominence he so craved.
Still, Wilson contributed significantly to winning the war, winning the peace and figure prominently in many other endeavors to which he dedicated himself in later life.
