I have the following unpostable books. Feel free to choose one free with each book ordered from my shelf. Just PM to let me know which one you want.

The following books are damaged as described:

  • Black House by Stephen King & Peter Straub ISBN: 0-345-44103-6 (paperback) Only slightly worn, this book would be postable if not for a large tear on the back cover where a sticker or tape was removed.
  • So Far From the Bamboo Grove – Yoko Kawashima Watkins ISBN: 0-688-13115-8 (paperback) Large creases on both front and back cover, but clean pages and tight binding. Ex school book with “Used Book” stamped on it.
  • River God – Wilbur Smith ISBN: 0-312-95446-8 (paperback)  On this one, the cover is torn along the front and is beginning to come lose from the binding. All the pages are still intact. There is an inscription on the first page.
  • The Witching Hour – Anne Rice ISBN: 0-345-38446-6 (paperback) This book’s cover is about halfway torn off. Pages are intact and have been stamped by a used bookstore.
  • The Catcher in the Rye – J.D. Salinger (paperback) This is an older copy; the cover is about halfway torn off. The pages are yellowed and stained from storage. I can’t find an ISBN number.
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix – J.K. Rowling ISBN: 0-439-35807-8 (paperback) I just got this a few weeks ago from another swapper, but it is too worn for me to put back into the system. There is a little bit of staining on some of the pages, the corners of the cover are beginning to curl up and the first few pages are torn slightly. (The tears do not affect readability.)
  • Irish Dreams – Nora Roberts ISBN: 0-373-28541-8 (paperback) This one has some wavy pages, but is still readable.
  • Cause of Death – Patricia Cornwell ISBN: 978-0-425-21338-4(paperback) The glue is failing on this book. The front cover is loose, and so is a 50 page chunk of the book.
  • The Talisman – Stephen King & Peter Straub ISBN: 0-425-10533-4 (paperback) This one’s cover is loose, there is a small stain on the pages and there is some yellowing.
  • Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - J.K. Rowling ISBN: 0-439-78596-0 (paperback) This is another one that I ordered from another member and is just a little too worn for me to post back into the system. There are small tears and creases on the front cover and a small amount of water damage on the last few pages.

The following books came from a long-term storage shed. They are all readable, but are yellowed, stained, and musty.

  • Cabal – Clive Barker ISBN: 0-671-68514-7 (paperback)
  • Jurassic Park – Michael Crichton UPC: 0-7099900699 (paperback) There are stickers on the back cover of this one.

  • The Source of Magic – Piers Anthony ISBN: 0-345-35058-8 (paperback)
  • A Spell of Chameleon – Piers Anthony ISBN: 0-345-34753-6 (paperback)
  • Violin – Anne Rice ISBN: 0-345-2530-8 (paperback)
  • Everville – Clive Barker ISBN: 0-06-109308-4 (paperback) This one also has a torn cover.
  • The Mummy – Anne Rice ISBN: 0-345-36994-7 (paperback)
  • Being A Green Mother – Piers Anthony ISBN: 0-345-32223-1 (paperback) This one also has damage to the front and back covers. It looks like something nibbled on the edges.
  • The Magic of Recluce – L.E. Modesitt, Jr. ISBN: 0-812-50518-2 (paperback)
  • The Vampire Armand – Anne Rice ISBN: 0-345-4380-3 (paperback)

Take two of the following unpostables with each order from my regular shelf:

The Fruit of Stone by Mark Spragg.  Slight moisture damage at top of last 100 pages.

All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, by Robert Fulghum:  Parentheses in red ink on 3 pages.

Night, by Elie Wiesel:  slight split between 2 pages.

Locked Inside,  by Nancy Werlin:  6 pages with slight rips on the edges.  Otherwise in good shape.

At Home in Mitford, by Jan Karon:  Looks like a puppy may have gently gnawed on bottom only of front cover and first couple of pages.  Text itself is perfect.

Bastard out of Carolina by Dorothy Allison:  smoky smell

The New Anchor Book of Canvaswork Stitches and Patterns:  Faint stains on bottom of back cover and last 4 pages.  Does not affect patterns.

Brideshead Revisited  by Evelyn Waugh:  paperback companion to PBS (as in Public Broadcasting System) tv series.  Some underlining throughout book.

Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton. Probably the most famous of her novels...very interesting read.  Only one or two comments written in paperback text.

Give the Boys a Great Big Hand by Ed McBain:  Carella and Hawes of 87th Precinct mystery.  Occasional underlining in this paperback.

Hunter's Glen by Phyllis A. Whitney.  Hardback novel of romantic suspense.  No ISBN but otherwise perfect.

Wild Animus by Rich Shapero.  Brand-new paperback ARC.

Tiny Footprints by B. Kliban:  paperback of adult cartoons.

The Lighter Side of Golf:  31 photographs of professional golfers with amusing thought balloons superimposed.  Just not big enough to justify using one credit.  Nice companion to one of the regular golf books on my shelf.

How Do Dinosaurs Learn to Read? by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague:  6-page mini-book...cute but not enough to warrant one credit.

Memo:  To Myself When I Have A Teenage Kid  by Carol Snyder.  An older copy with slight water stain on inside of paper cover.  Still very readable.

They Shine, They Fly, They're Angels by Colleen Brady, Olivia Brady ISBN 9781420885408 (Wavy paperback, looks like someone sat in the sauna too long while reading the book)

I have a few unpostables:

Last Summer by Evan Hunter No ISBN copies avail. (Mold. Still readable, but probably on its last reading.)

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers ISBN 0553269631 (Small hole that goes through all the front pages leading up to (but not including) the story pages. The rip is in the blank area on all ripped pages, no text is ripped.)

Lady Chatterly's Lover by DH Lawrence Non-ISBN (Mystery streaks on first half of pages, small water stain. Damage doesn't interfere with readability.)

The Temple of Gold by William Goldman Non-ISBN (This book will hold together for one or two more reads, but it's definitely on it's last legs. Ripped cover, cleaved spine, pages themselves are ok, but barely holding together)

The Happy Hollisters at Pony Hill Farm by Jerry West Non-ISBN (Hardcover, back cover appears to have something stuck to it, multiple stains and what looks like scorch marks. Binding is in great shape, though. Damage doesn't interfere with readability.)

Rich Dad, Poor Dad - What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not! by Robert T. Kiyosaki ISBN 0964385619 (Lots of highlighting)

Personal Financial Planning by Lawrence J. Gitman and Michael D. Joehnk (Textbook) ISBN 003075481x (A little water damage on the cover and the edges of some pages, barely visible on page. Also acceptable textbook usage.)

Order either Finance book off my shelf and I will send both unpostable finance books free.

Order any other book from my shelf and I will send any one unpostable free.

All that Lives: A Novel of the Bell Witch
Melissa Sanders-Self

Robertson County, Tennessee, early 1800s. The respectable Bell family is quietly working its rural farm, when something utterly horrific suddenly unleashes a reign of terror upon them and their entire community. The haunting begins with knocking on the walls. Before long, disembodied voices are heard whispering in the night, and spectral creatures are seen floating in the field. Then, 13-year-old Betsy Bell is brutally assaulted, and her father, John Bell, is violently tortured by an unseen force. The desperate townspeople, frantic with fear, gather to cast the demon from their midst. But a far more insidious evil lurks in the Bell home-more damaging and disturbing than the Bell Witch could ever be.
