It's really neat that you have such old magazines, however magazines can't be swapped for credits on the site. :( This is from the help documents under "Is my book ok to post here": Magazines: NO
Sorry to rain on your parade :( |

It would be easier to ignore if it weren't such a blatant attempt to circumvent the policies here at PBS. As Karen tried to tell you, rather nicely, that per the Help Center Docs, magazines are Banned on PBS, and the only thing that can be traded for credits here are books. I put these digests here just in case anyone who collects vintage publications was interested in them. Seriously, I'm not trying to cause trouble. . I can always send them Priority instead of media mail. These are "Unpostable" on PBS. which is why I put them over here (where unpostable items go) and I am being given grief for what is (or should be) a non-issue. Comic books and series are listed here and they too have advertisements in them! Why on earth are some members wasting energy and time finding fault with this post? Does it really make a difference to any of you if someone wants these or not? But since it seems to be a bone of contention, I have edited the original post to list them as a freebie to anyone who orders 4 points from my bookshelf.
Now, please only respond to this post if you are interested in these. Otherwise leave it alone to die as it probably will... Last Edited on: 5/31/10 4:33 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

People are responding to you because your post violates the rules of the site and specifically the Book Bazaar. If you look to the top of this Forum you will see a thread on how to use this Forum. Had you read that before posting you would see that you CANNOT ask for credits for anything but books. You can only offer magazines as free with the request of the book. You don't understand why people care you are not following the rules and we cannot understand why you insist to continue to break those rules after you have been told they are there . Here is the rule of the Bazaar that you are breaking (and comic books would also break it and I have never seen a post allowed offering them as anything but an incentive). General Rules in the Book Bazaar: (3) No selling books for anything but credits, and no offering anything but books for credits. Freebies/incentives can be "non-swappable" items, but remember that non-Media-Mail eligible items CANNOT be sent using Media Mail postal rate. For example, DVDs and VHS tapes and magazines and pamphlets/booklets without ISBNs are all NOT permitted to be posted at PBS; they can all be offered as freebies/incentives, though. But if the freebie/incentive items contain advertising (ie, magazines or booklets bought at a supermarket checkout stand), or are not Media items (anything but books, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes) they can't be sent Media Mail, so the whole package will have to go by another shipping rate. DVDs/VHS tapes/CDs can be sent using Media Mail postal rate. In order for you post to not violate the Book Bazaar rules you must ask that someone request books from your shelf for the credits and you will send the magazines with them for free. It is never a nonissue when someone blantantly violates the written rules and ignores the Tour Guides that try to help them. Last Edited on: 5/31/10 5:18 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I'm surprised PBS hasn't cleared the topic and suspended your account for flagrantly attempting to violate the rules. You've been clearly told that you cannot ask for credits for anything but books, that you can only offer your magazines as bonuses with an order from your shelf, yet you persist in leaving the post there and asking for only those that are interested to post. You really think anybody else is going to put their account at risk like you are and post that they will take them? My guess is that PBS is probably even watching your PMs to see if anyone PMs you to give you the credits. Then they would really have you closed by rights, and you would have caused someone else to lose their account while you were at it. Are you really that kind of a person that not only doesn't care about their own account, but is willing to drag someone else down with you? I just hope your offer is closed because you decided to do the right thing, and not because someone is putting their account in jeopardy by accepting your offer, as they are very likely taking a close watch on who PMs you at this point. I just know it won't be me, since i like being on PBS too much! |
