So if I have an unpostable (slight water damage) WL book what is the best way to get it out to somebody who wants it and won't mind the slight water damage (shouldn't have read it in the tub, splashed a couple of pages) and still be of some benefit to me? I was thinking maybe the next book in the series along with it or something of that nature. In the past I've just dumped books like this but the damage is so slight and the book is Wishlisted.

I usually offer my unpostables (wishlisted or not) with the description to what is wrong in my profile. Free with a book from my shelf or now with a deal they might want. I think you can also now offer it for credit (not in the fifo list) as long as the person knows it is unpostable.

You can mention it in your bookshelf header, your signature line, the wish list thread or the Bargain forum.  You need to decide if you want to ask for a credit or offer it free with another book from your shelf.    Offering it as a freebie with an order is a good way to get other books moving.

That's what I would do.  I would offer it free with an order from your bookshelf.

Thanks. I forget about the signature line as a place to post things. I will see about updating mine.

You are not alone John! I was curious too, but I have been going hog wild here lately and can't believe how many books I have coming to me. *blushes*

My mail lady thanked me for single handedly supporting the USPS. LOL

If I told you how much I have spent here lately or how many books are coming in.... burning red in the face here myself. lol.

But I can't stop. I think I need help. This is great fun! And they are not even for me!!

:)

Edited to add: Just glad I wasn't the only one. The dead silence on this forum after I asked made me feel bad. lol. Thought I heard crickets, and thought I had asked something wrong.

Oh, I am burning with curiousity too. (I received 37 books in the mail last week.....) Darn box of books! It's so easy to get out of hand. I had been being good and only ordering wish list books, but then I figured I might as well get the most out of my box of books membership while I still have it! It expires in August and I AM NOT RENEWING IT. My bookshelves couldn't handle it if I did....

LOL, sorry to cause you all such curiosity. I wasn't sure it was ok to say. It's Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison

Oh poop. Already ordered that one. lol. But thank you for telling us Susan, I had this forum on refresh like every three minutes, dying to know. :)

Lmao Colleen. Between Saturday and today we got about 20... I thought my wife was going to fall over laughing.

I keep hearing about the box of books! I looked at it after someone in forum told me to check it out. I am afraid, deathly afraid. lol. I am doing far more than enough damage as it is.

John, you crack me up. I was at work, and I was posting in between a couple of other things they pay me to do so I couldn't really be posting much. LOL I'm home now so you all don't have to worry I'm going to lose my job. My job where I am surrounded by books all day but come home to order more online.

LOL Susan. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come off as pushy. I have "new member excitement". I believe I also have something of a dangerous addiction... I forget my manners sometimes. Glad you are home and able to book shop now!

New member excitement? Hmmm. I have been here about 10 months and still feel that way. Mail time is my favorite time of the day!!!!!!

ok, *now* i don't feel so bad for my own mailman!  :)  i've avoided counting so i'm not seeing how many more are coming in than going out, but i know it's not quite as bad as that.  not that i wouldn't *like* to get that many - but i have no idea where i'd put them.

I haven't seen the chair in my 'library' in months. I am really and truly running out of places to put them now. I don't want my book addiction to flow out of the 'library' because my boyfriend might be able to realize it's worse then he thought it was! :P I still have some room in my closet I suppose....

Oh John, I wish I could tell you it gets better, but it gets worse; PBS is terribly addicting!

John, you weren't pushy at all and I've been here quite awhile and I still get excited. I love this place.

we all are.  At least you mail carrier is nice.  Mine hates  me.  I get a couple  books a week, and I feel guilty about those.

Mail time is my favorite time too! I feel like a kid at Christmas when I get books! My dh and the mail man like to joke about it, the cads! I have 12 books enroute....one of which is getting pretty late and I am wondering if  will even get here. Its a book I want to read right away, not even a WL book for pete's sake. All the others are WL smut and 1 WL para :) If the mail man only knew LOL!!!!!

John, your wife has an awesome WL.

My wife said the mail lady actually glared at her yesterday when delivering the mail. Pursed lips and scowl to boot. Whoops, that isn't very friendly. lol.

Thanks Anne. But the credit for that awesome wishlist has to go directly to the ladies in this forum. They all gave her the authors, info, book series and such to look into, so we can only thank those who directed us. :)

John, you should get the mail (if you are home) since you have a mail lady.  When we get the mail lady (when the mail man is not working) I try to send my DH out. She is friendlier to him :) Though my book packages are much smaller than the stuff he gets in the mail!

I would love to for her if I could, cause this same mail lady is not very pleasant all around and has caused some serious damage to packages just recently by cramming far more than should fit, into the mailbox to avoid getting out.

But I am not home. I actually am at work during the day, although you wouldn't know it by how much time I have played on here lately. lol.

Ouch. I can tail my mailman doesn't like his job either, but he's not that bad. Do you have an oversize mail box? We have one, it looks like a regular mail box, but larger, a 7x7 box can fit in it. Holds lots of books :)

I think ours is slightly larger than a standard. unfortunately we can't change it out or anything, stupid  association crap. I have actually thought about calling and making a complaint, but my wife won't let me. a couple times in past week books came out of that mailbox torn up, paper ripped off, books damaged and I KNOW it wasn't the person who sent them, it was all by how wedged they were in there.

One example, on saturday my wife went to get mail when we got home from grocery shopping and could not get it out of the box! She had to come get me to help her pry it out. That is awful. But unless we catch them, we never know who it actually is, we have three different postal workers generally (that we have been able to count) on rotation on weekends and fridays too I think, our usual mail lady is great, we have no problems with her. I told my wife if she wont let me complain to talk about it with our regular postal carrier, since they always chat like old friends anyways. lol
