Creepy story about closed up mental hospital in Michigan, a missing mental patient, and Louis Kincaid trying to solve everything on his own. This was one of the best books I've read in a long time and I literally could NOT put this one down.

Louis Kincaid The Florida PI's Thanksgiving plans with his significant other are derailed when Kincaid's foster father, Phillip, asks for his help with a delicate problem. The body of Phillip's youthful love, Claudia Olsen, has disappeared from her coffin, a travesty unearthed in the course of the demolition of the Michigan mental institution where Claudia was committed. Kincaid's search for the missing remains crosses paths with a journalist's pursuit of rumors that a serial killer, who was also a patient at the facility, is still alive and on the loose. Parrish manages to make what could be a formulaic plot fresh, both through her gift at creating sympathetic main and secondary characters and through her skill at creating suspense and sustaining a mood.
This was a really good book.Itmoves quickly and it was hardforme to put down.

This is a great Louis Kincaid mystery! Louis heads back to Michigan to help his foster father find the body of a first love who died in a sanitarium. The story gets deeper and the mystery expands as more bodies start to turn up and Louis ends up trapped in the tunnels below the sanitarium grounds. The setting is spooky and the story is a cliff hanger. If you've read other Louis Kincaid stories, you'll find out more about his background through this book. If you haven't read any of the Louis Kincaid storie, this is a great one to start with.

When a cemetary is being relocated, Louis Kincaid gets roped into a locating a Claudia's body which wasn't in her casket. His foster father dated this girl and lost touch when she was committed to an asylum back in 1951. During his investigation, Louis discovers the many atrocities committed in the name of mental health as well as a lead or two on Claudia. Other more sinister mysteries come to light and Kincaid nearly gets killed in the discovery process.

This is one of the better mystery novels I've read recently. Totally convoluted plotlines with lots of intersecting characters and deadly secrets. Louis Kincaid is one determined private eye. He doesn't give in, even when the chips are stacked against him.

A chilling story of one of the country's most notorious sanitariums and its forgotten cemetery. Empty now bulldozers have come to raze it but as they do ... horrifying secrets begin to emeger.

My husband has been in the mental health field for over 20 years and having heard of some of the horrors of past decades is what initially interested me in this book. This book will hook you with the horrifying possibilities of what some humans have had to endure.

Good story. PI/Cop mystery. PI goes to MI to help his foster father find a body-who has her coffin fillrd with rocks. He then gets involved in other murders. Those from MI will know the landscape from Plymouth to Grosse Point. It is a good read and this was my first reading of this author- I requested another.

The bulldozers have come to raze the old notorious sanitarium and its almost forgotten cemetery. In Claudia Olsens's grave is the body of a stranger who died horribly. And what happened to Claudia? A Louis Kincaid mystery. And a really good mystery at that.
