I had a book arrive today which was mailed on April 30th! (yep, I checked the postmark, she mailed it on that date). The book had been declared lost a month ago, I never thought it would show up. So, now I can once again say that in over 300 books mailed and received, I've never had a book go lost! |

wouldn't it be fun to hear the stories that book could tell of its trip to you!?!?! |

Oh, I know! I was thinking that myself. The book was in great condition too, and only had computer paper for wrapping, I was totally shocked that there was no damage. |

If only those little lost books got frequent flyer miles ... :-) |

Then there's still hope for some books I shipped on May 9, and have been declared lost. Would be nice if they turned up as there were 6 of them. LOL. Pat |

It must be the day for things turning up. The one that I had go lost in the middle of last month (mailed on 5/21) showed up today as well. |

Were any of them from VA? ;D It seems to me that VA (where I live) is the most troublesome OSPS delivery state. I've had several declared lost going out that eventually showed up. But I've had 2 (so far in June) incoming that are declared lost - nothing in sight yet. Earlier in the spring other incoming were declared lost but did show up eventully. So I'm holding out hope! Fortunately, most senders had PBS DC. I almost feel compelled to PM senders to be sure to get it because of the track record so far. :D Ruth Last Edited on: 7/1/08 9:45 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I had one show up 11 (eleven!) months after mailing! The postmark was clear and it was shipped on time. The book and wrapping were in great condition!

*sigh* Thanks for the encouragement! In this past month, I've had two BoBs and another book go lost! This has never happened to me before. I won't lose hope now!

Ruth - As a matter of fact, I live in Northern VA! Maybe that IS the problem. Although I will say that I rarely have any issues with lost books, this was the longest one of my books has ever been lost. Sheri - That is crazy!!! 11 months! |

I've had several books go lost on me and none of them have showed up yet! Two books went missing in the same geographical area (michigan) in as many weeks, which prompted me to start using the DC. |

Lisa, I had two en route to me this spring go lost, after two years of mostly good luck. Hopefully my books will show up soon, too! |

I once had a book show up after three months, but your experience really takes the cake! Like yours, my package was shipped on time, well wrapped, and was in great condition when it arrived. Nothing to show why it took so long. In the past month, though, I've had four book transactions go officially lost. One of the no-shows was a package of three books (3 for 1) with delivery confirmation. And one other was eaten by the post office. They sent the shredded packaging back to the sender, who let me know what happened to that one (also a three for one book deal). Pam |

wow, Sheri, 11 months! lol. I had one I sent out take 3 or 4 months (Honestly, I forget anymore), but it eventually did arrive! When they arrive after long periods of time and still look like they were just mailed, I always wonder if they got lost IN the PO, like behind something or whatever. Yes, if only they could tell their tales, ;-)

I'm new to the site, and already have a book that might be lost. It was marked sent on 6/15/2008, and other books I've requested since then have already been received. So I'm sitting and waiting, and your post is encouragng me. (11 months???) |

Packages & small parcels usually get torn open and the contents get separated from the packaging. Which is why they end up in "dead letter" Atlanta. One recommendation would be to print the address of where it is going and place that inside each book you mail. In the event it gets torn open you may get the book delivered. Most issues that I have seen with mailing boxes is shoebox sized and up. People don't pack larger boxes properly. On Thursday I found three letters from January 2007. Back in March we found 5 letters that were 5 - 10 years old when they removed the large weight scales from my plant. I have found 20+ year old letters in the mail stream. Kevin |
