I tried searching everywhere for this but no luck: how do I insert an image from my own computer to a discussion post?  (When I clicked on the Image icon near the top of the Text window, it just lists a bunch of text in Latin!)

The image must be on the internet before you can add it here. So you could upload it to a site like photobucket and then use the link provided there to have it appear here. There have been other threads about this. Maybe someone can give the instructions, or you can search the forums. Sorry I'm on my iPad or I'd find it for you and make a link.

Thanks, Linda. I'll look into using a site like photobucket.  If anybody has any feedback about photobucket or some other site like that they think is better, please post if not too much trouble, thanks!

Linda is correct. You must either upload your images to an internet site or put them on your own website, then insert linksto them in your forum posts. Photobucket is a popular site, and I have used Flickr but I don't know much about other sites. You can try internet searches for "image sharing sites", "photo sharing sites" or "image storage sites" to find others. There are a number of free sites that enable image uploads to share with others. The search results will also include sites that compare image storage sites' features. Some sites have conditions regarding time limits or the frequency of viewing for how long images will be accessible, but others do not.

Basically, you can include links to any images on the net in forum posts, but be aware that the links will subsequently fail if the images are deleted on those sites or are moved or renamed.

If you do not know how to insert links in your forum posts, you can ask here. In additiona, you can also insert links in your PMs to other members on the site by using HTML syntax. I can help you with either of those if needed.

I recall that at some point PBS had a nasty virus that came in a photo. This third party step is to help prevent this.

(We can use our own photos as an icon or in the signature line. I think these images are stored differently? Or maybe it is the size limit?)
