Okay, I've had this issue for over a year and tried the "live help" but it wasn't helpful at all. For some reason I've stopped getting all emails from paperbackswap. So I have no idea when a book is requested from me or one of my WL books becomes avalible. I have a busy life and try to check the site as much as I can, but sometimes I forget. Thats why my setting are set to recieve ALL requests. My account has been suspended twice due to me not filling requests. I've also had two books on my WL for over a year and missed out on getting them because I didn't asnwer the request in time. I used to love Paperback Swap, but not anymore :( All "live help" suggested I do was change my setting (I did that) check my spam folder (did that too, nothing was there) and make sure I've added this site to my approved email list (did that too) still no emails. What I'm I suppose to do?

I too was put on suspension for not replying to requests for books for a month or so.  At the same time I was sad that there was no activity from this account at all and how I wish books were coming/going more often.  By the time I realized it, my spam folder had auto emptied so I couldn't tell if that's where they went or not.  Now, at least every other day, I come on here and click on "my account" first to get the highlights of my account before doing other things.  I do find suprises sometimes but then when I check my spam folder, the email is there. I have told yahoo that this is "not spam" but for some reason, they don't believe me:).

Dear Sara, if you go to your setting tab and make sure your e-mail address there is correct, and then you go to the link in the My Account tab that says Club Communication and you verify that they are sending you e-mails then you need to contact your e-mail account provider as it is not on the PBS side in that case and that would be by why PBS wouldn't be able to fix this for you. Maybe try a different e-mail provider and then change your e-mail here to go there!

Hope this helps,

 Kim C.

You've done all that you normally would need to do to receive PBS emails (changed settings, checked spam, and added to email "approved" list).  Have you checked your Club Communications file to be sure you've actually been SENT some PBS email recently?  (You can check by going to My Account at the top of any page, then click on Main.  On your Main page, click on Club Communications link, located in the center of the yellow bar at the top of the page. Here you will see all messages sent from between PBS to your User Email address during the last 45 days.

You should also make sure that the PBS email senders are not on your "blocked" list.  After that, the only other things I can suggest is that you contact your email provider to see if there is something they can recommend (Sometimes, email providers  "hold" PBS emails, or treat them as "spam".  This is most common with yahoo and hotmail, but it can happen with other email servers also. This is sometimes caused by members who mark PBS emails as "spam" as a way to delete them from their email inboxes. After holding PBS emails for a while, sometimes the email provider's email server will dump a bunch of outdated PBS emails into user inboxes; sometimes they just won't be delivered at all.)

Once you've done this, you can also try contacting the site administrators to let them know what your email provider said, and they can help you further.  (This can be tricky, since they respond using email contact.  Keep checking your Club Communications.)  Contact them by clicking Contact Us at the bottom right side of any page, then click on Send Us Feedback, describe the problem, then click on Submit Feedback button.  You should get automated reply acknowledgement shortly (via email, not PM), and then within a couple of days a Team member should contact you.

It sounds lIke a long time ago they were sent to your spam folder...and now it's too late to retrieve them...maybe make a new email address (hotmail or Yahoo are easy) and change the PBS account to to the new email and see if that works. Then sink the new email into your other account so you get them at the same place as your other email. I have 3 joined together.

I started not getting them too at one point  and mine had been sent to spam, by me by mistake...took me  few hours to find them, my email is google and I swear they hid them from me in spam! Good luck.

Also, it is a good idea to get into the habit of checking your Main page at least once every time you log into PBS, to see the status of all active transactions. Your Main page is the place where all active transactions are listed, and you can see there at a glance what is going on with all of them.

It is faster and more dependable than managing your account via email, which is subject to delayed delivery times by your email provider.

(Get to your Main page by clicking on My Account at the top of any page and then clicking on Main link from the top of the dropdown menu that appears.)

You can check PBS quickly if you set up a link, not to the main PBS page, but to your main account page. In my browser (Safari) I have a bookmark link right at the top of my screen, so I can click on "PBS" and within a second and a half I can see what's happening on my account. It's extremely quick - except when I get curious and start poking around to see my wishlist numbers and checking the forum and such.

You do need to make sure your server knows PBS is on the approved email list.  Not just your mail program.  If other folks on your server mark PBS as spam, it can change your filter.

PBS has TWO addresses.  Both need to be added.  But the priority should be the librarian.  (Wish list offers and orders.)

I also have a problem with getting emails about when a Personal Message is sent to me and when a book is marked mailed.  I get all other emails and have checked my account to make sure I've accepted those.  I'm not sure what is going on.

What ISP do you use?  I've noticed that lately AT&T owned providers (sbcglobal, att, prodigy, etc) has been bouncing messages.  This could be what's happening to you, especially since nothing is showing in your spam filter.

If it's happening on other sites, then it is likely it is happening here as well.

I'm on PBS every day, so I usually don't notice a drop in communication from the site.

I had this issue a year or so back. I tried everything you did and nothing worked. I was told by PBS that it was my provider (roadrunner) that was claiming PBS was spam and not allowing it through. I wasn't even getting it in my spam folder, my provider wasn't allowing PBS mail period. I was told to contact Time Warner/roadrunner and report it as non spam mail. I did this and still after weeks no PBS e-mails. I was then told by PBS I should get a Google mail account until my provider fixed things on their end. So that's what I did. I've used that Google e-mail since then. Not sure if TW/Roadrunner ever fixed the problem. I know my provider wasn't the only one holding back PBS mail, at the time there were other members here having the same issue I was.

I had this problem a couple of years ago when I had Verizon - they were bouncing my PBS e-mails and I had to go to their site and 'approve' PBS. There was a thread about this, a gentleman member here told us how to do it. Once PBS was okayed by me the e-mails came through fine.

If you are using Roadrunner and downloading your email into a mail program, you may need to adjust the settings on the Roadrunner website. Their default is to not deliver things they think are junk mail.

To do this, go to webmail.xxx.rr.com where xxx is is the city abbreviation in your email address. Login there with your email address and password.

Click the Settings button, then investigate the "Allow and Block Messages options" and "Junk Mail options". Make sure all your "junk" mail is getting delivered so you can manage and delete it from your PC.

I suppose I am the opposite. I check into PBS more often than my e-mails. E-mail seems to cumbersome to me anymore. I communiate thru FB or I am here browsing books. I look at my e-mail once a week or so.LOL
