Always!  I even reuse some of the big manila envelopes that come in the mail where I work.  They'd be going in the trash can otherwise.

I do & I'm not afraid to admit it :)  I do it to save $ but mostly b/c it helps cut down on waste.  I'm big into recycling.

I always reuse the envelopes. And if I've used all the envelopes, then I get a paper grocery and wrap the book in that!

I had a stack of thick envelopes I was saving at work that I put out in the copy room and no one took so I took them back and reused them to send books out.  And even as we speak I have a stack of boxes and envelopes to be used.....

Is the shipping amount the same, if we use a padded envelope or just  a pretty hand made envelope? (as compared to doing the white paper printed out, and wrapping the book that way).

I reuse every possible envelope. I even occasionally reuse the PBS paper wrapper from a book that's been packaged with enough tape to keep it's shape, as long as I open it carefully. I've become very skilled at this art....

I have pretty hand-made envelopes to use... just not for the hard cover books.

Another question -- do we have to use the print-outs from PBS for mailing? or can we write the address on the package?   Be patient with me please, I just joined last night.  I have two books "taken" already and I'm so excited!!

Yes you can hand write it. That is if you're not using printable postage or DC (Delivery Confirmation).  Click this link for more info on sending /wrapping books: http://www.paperbackswap.com/help/help_index.php

Thank you all for your great replies, I feel so good to know that I am not alone in my quest for saving money, hehehe, one more thing, I stopped printing long time ago, I write the names by hand, I was spending way too much money on ink because I send out a lot of books, feel free to call me MS. CHEAPO FROM BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, YEAH, THAT'S ME. :)

I ABSOLUTELY reuse every envelope I can get my hands on and I notice a lot of others do also. I even got a box-o-books in a Milk Bone dog biscuit box one time!!!

I re-use envelopes. It's expensive enough already to ship things!   And the ones that are too sad to re-use get chopped up to use inside CD cases for mailing so the cases don't get cracked.

Sure do!  I pretty much save any packaging that might be reusable for book mailing.
