So, I mailed a package last week.  I used PBS DC...and the truck started out and was about a 1/3 of the way to it's destination.  Then I got on here Saturday, I think, and checked it again...and the little truck is gone, and the dot is back to it's original location?

What does that mean???  It wasn't going that far, and should have been there in 2-3 days tops...it's been 6 now....and it seems to have vanished?

Thoughts?

Amanda,

The truck is for entertainment purposes only.   If you want true details, click on the 'Details' button.

And remember, that Delivery Confirmation is really just that -- the post office does not have to scan your book at any time but when it is delivered. Having said that tho, it usually gets scanned along the way but I have received plenty of books with DC that were never scanned until delivery so don't freak out if yours isn't scanned, especially if you dropped it in a big blue box! If you take it to the PO they at least scan it when you buy the postage.

The truck is a liar!

When you get a PO scan, the truck will reset itself back to the location of the scan. Otherwise, its just moving some average amount per day based on the distance...a total guess in terms of where your particular book is.

I freaked out because the lines and truck showed it coming back to me on a BOB box I sent out.  It made a triangle from my house to another city to the destination and then from the destination back to me. But the box was delivered.  So who knows why it says what it says.

The truck movement is an estimate. He starts out once the [Book Has Been Mailed] button is hit and drives along in ignorant bliss based on no knowledge of the actual location or route of the book. Until a scan happens; then his travel is adjusted to that scan.

I think we need a "The truck is a liar" blinky.

Well, I've never had the truck lie before.  when it 'gets' to it's location...the receiver has always clicked received.  I guess I won't worry about it too much...but I am going back to look anyway!!

Well, go figure!  The details says it was delivered on 11/13.  And the person hasn't posted received yet.  I got all worked up over nothing.  (I forgot about the details button...thanks!)  Still think it's odd the truck did a backtrack.  oh well....hopefully this person DID get the book and will post soon.

The truck delivers nothing but lies.

If you have a book on its way to you, and the sender purchased DC - when you click the big green check mark next to the order, you will see the Truck of Lies graphic traveling across the country on its ficticious way.

When your book was delivered, the truck goes back to its original place or parking garage! lol

Some members even report seeing the 'liar' truck delivering mail out in the ocean!
