I have read the help docs but find I need more clarification. I will likely be moving soon, and as part of the packing process will probably have some books that I want to cull and put on my PBS bookshelf / mail to members. But I don't want to request any books for the couple of weeks before I move, in case the books take longer than usual to arrive to my old address and I don't have access to them. In addition, I have most if not all of my wishlist on auto-request. The way I read it in the help docs, anything set to auto-request will 'ignore' the vacation hold if I use it. If I change everything on my wishlist to not auto-request and go on vacation hold, that will also vacation my bookshelf, which is not what I want. Should I just 'un-auto-request' my wishlist but not bother with the vacation hold, and manually refuse any wishlist action I get until I can have things sent to my new address?

You can put your entire wishlist on hold by choosing the "check all" option at the top of your wishlist.  This should keep any of those books from being offered to you during your move, you won't lose your place in line, and your regular shelf will still remain active.

You do realize that putting your whole account on vacation hold preserves the position of your bookshelf as well right?

Why not put yourself into "stasis" nothing in nothing out everything in the same place until you have gotten yourself organized?

While the individual Hold on the Bookshelf removes everything from the FIFO lines, that is not the case on the Wish List, you remain in line there. Since you want to continue to send books, I would do as Sandy said and place all of your books on your Wish List on Hold and leave your Bookshelf alone until you want to stop sending books and then at that point put it on Vacation Hold.

It is very confusing that the three Holds are so different.  They were set up at three different times.   Please use Vacation Hold when it is time to put your sending of books on Hold, not the individual bookshelf Hold.   Use auto-request with the Vacation Hold if you want to still receive books.

Since you say you want to be able to mail books, but you don't want to receive books, Sandy's solution works.

Aha, I can put my entire wishlist on hold without losing my place in line, without putting my bookshelf on hold. Perfect! Thanks so much everyone.
