I've read what the Help Center has to say but, I'm still a little uncertain.  Here is the situation...I know that mid to late May I'm going to be going on vacation that may last up to a month...I'm wanting to put my WL on HOLD soon enough ahead so that I don't have books that will come in during that time but, (now here is my question) while my shelf is on hold can I post books directly to someone else's wishlist without taking my account off hold, like if I wanted to post them directly to a buddy?

This may sound dumb but, hey I don't know so I'm asking...while it is on hold I can still participate in the forums correct?

Thanks for answering...

you can post to people's WL and post in the forums...all vacation hold does is put your bookshelf on hold (and WL but don't have it set to autorequest, I think those still go through)

Leslie has it right, Christy, you can post to someone's WL, BUT if that person doesn't accept and is the only person on the WL (or even if there's more, and it runs thru them all) then that book is then fair game on the system. It will remain available, unless you specifically mark it to be on Hold, after the last WL'er doesn't take it.

And, as she said, be sure none of your WL is set to auto-request or you will have books coming in.

NO! Take if off hold just long enough to post the book.  My account is on hold to stop the WL book offers. I posted a book recently to someone's WL but forgot to take my account off hold.  It said I was posting to this person but instead it posted it as a hold book on my shelf-not on WL hold or 1hrs Buyers Remorse either-just as a hold book.  I took my shelf off hold thinking it would go to the person I posted it to-nope it went to FIFO.

It's very easy to unhold the account.  I take it off hold long enough to post the book and then put it right back on hold.

When I posted a WL book to FIFO-it timed out on the first person and it didn't offer it to the next person until I took my account off hold.  It just put it on my shelf w/the rest of them.  There were several people on the WL and I was wondering why it wasn't on WL hold or auto request hold. It was just sitting on my shelf with a W by it showing it as a WL book. I had to unhold again for a few minutes for it to go into WL hold.
