I am new to PaperBackSwap and am going to be out of town for maybe two weeks. I have read the Vacation Hold information on this website. I still have a couple of questions.

1. I have one book in transit to me and want to be sure that the sender gets credit. We will put our mail on hod at the post office so I will not know if the books gets to me.

2. I will have my computer with me and can get online sometimes while traveling so I could update the website, but still will not know when the book gets to my mail box.

3. I have three credits, but will not order any more books until I return home.

Please make suggestions.

Benny,

You will be able to mark the book as Received when you return and have the book in hand. If the book is no longer showing on your Main Account page by then, you will be able to mark it Received from your Transaction Archive.

Welcome to PBS, Benny!

For the book in transit, check under the "my account" -> "en route to me" tab whether there is a green checkmark in the box on the right hand side with your address. If there is, it means the person used PBS DC and/or postage, and they received the credit once it was (a) scanned into the USPS mailstream or (b) when they marked it mailed. So it's not as a big a deal when you mark it received (but you definitely should after your trip).  If there is no check mark, it means that the sender is waiting until you mark "Received" to get the credit.

Next, check the system action date. Will you be back and able to check your mail before that date? On that date, if you haven't marked it received the system assumes the book went lost and you get your credit back.

In either case, I would PM the sender and let them know that you will be out of town until <date>, but will definitely mark it received when you return. Reassuring them that the mail is being held in a safe place is also a good idea.

Have a safe trip.

You did not mention it in your OP, but I would suggest putting your account on vacation hold while you are gone. You can do this by clicking on the "My Account" tab at the top of each page and then clicking on "vacation hold".  This will keep you from getting requests for books from your shelf.

Then don't worry.  They will get the credit when the post office scans it, rather when you mark it received.
