Is there a way to put just my bookshelf on hold, but not my wish list? Life is just crazy lately and mailing out books is one thing I would like to temporarily take off my plate but I am happy to get wish list books to read. I can't seem to find a way to put just the bookshelf on hold. Thanks! |

I usually just put my account on vacation and auto request my wish list books. I've never had an issue with more offers coming in than I had credits and I never keep more than 15 credits on hand. When you do it this way, no one can post books directly to your WL unless you are #1 in line already anyway. But you can still receive them through FIFO. You can also do the individual hold for books on your bookshelf but that removes them from FIFO. Not a big deal if you have mostly books with few copies posted but not something you want to do if you have a lot of highly posted books.

If you look at your wish list, you can tell which books are on "auto-request." They have the light green background. Auto-request will bypass the vacation hold. |

As Mary and Patty suggest, vacation hold with books on your wishlist set to auto request is the way to go. When your bookshelf is on vacation hold, your books will continue to move up in the FIFO line. You could also put individual books on your bookshelf on "individual hold", but I don't recommend this at all. This removes the book from the FIFO line, and when you take it off of hold it's treated as a newly posted book and moved to the end of the line. Just want to make sure you know how "individual book hold" works. I used to use it before I realized that it totally removed my books from the FIFO line. |

Thanks! I didn't know that auto-request stayed "turned on" when the vacation hold was on. That sounds like the plan for me! Thanks! |
