I like reading romances involving vampires, but I'm just not into vampire clans, vampire slayers, vampires trying to save the race, vampire wars, other paranormal creatures, etc.  I like simple boy meets girl and boy happens to be a vampire love stories.   I like the ups and downs of the girl finding out the guy is a vampire, the first bite (hehe), and the angst of he's immortal and she's not, etc.  I think the only one I've found so far is A Deeper Hunger.  Anyone have any other suggestions?

(I'll make an exception for the Black Dagger Brotherhood series - I do love those books!)

Have you read Christine Feehan's Dark series? I would put those in that category somewhat and I really enjoyed them.

1. Dark Prince (1999)
2. Dark Desire (1999)
3. Dark Gold (2000)
4. Dark Magic (2000)
5. Dark Challenge (2000)
6. Dark Fire (2001)
7. Dark Dream (in After Twilight)
8. Dark Legend (2001)
9. Dark Guardian (2002)
10. Dark Symphony (2003)
11. Dark Descent (in The Only One)
12. Dark Melody (2003)
13. Dark Destiny (2004)
14. Dark Hunger (in Hot Blooded)
15. Dark Secret (2005)
16. Dark Demon (2006)
17. Dark Celebration: A Carpathian Reunion (2006)
18. Dark Possession (2007)
19. Dark Curse (2008)

Also Lynsay Sands's Argeneau vampires are romantic, sex and fun.

Argeneau Family
1. A Quick Bite (2005)
2. Love Bites (2004)
3. Single White Vampire (2003)
4. Tall Dark and Hungry (2004)
5. A Bite to Remember (2006)
6. Bite Me If You Can (2007)
7. The Accidental Vampire (2008)
8. Vampires Are Forever (2008)
9. Vampire, Interrupted (2008)

Thanks Collette.  I did read Feehan's Dark Symphony and it didn't really grab me so I haven't read any other her other books.  I am interested in Lynsay Sands - I have most of her Aregeneau series in my TBR.  Maybe I'll read those next.

Authors I have already tried are:

Kerrelyn Sparks

Katie MacAlister

Susan Squires

Charlaine Harris

Maggie Shayne

Sherrilyn Kenyon

Laurell K. Hamilton

Kresley Cole

Rosemary Laurey

Jennifer Armitrout

Stephenie Meyer

Some I liked, some I didn't but I am just looking for something different.

Amy - Good question.  I'm having the same problem.  I ordered A Deeper Hunger.  All of the other vamp stuff just got into too much science fictiony-type mumbo jumbo.

Dawn - who's Michelle Rowe?  I checked PBS and Amazon but can't find her.

Monica - glad I'm not the only one!

Amy, i think Dawn meant Michelle Rowen.

i'm having trouble thinking of any where it's just boy-meets-girl without too much other stuff going on.

Yea, I don't really mean books with no plot, but books with no paranormal plot other than the fact that the main character is a vamp.  Does that make any sense?

oh, it makes sense, i'm just having trouble thinking of any.  i'm trying to review my keeper shelf in my head (i'm at work), and all of them i can think of have either other supernaturals, or someone trying to expose or kill the vamps, or something like that.

After Midnight and The Vampire Who Loved Me by Teresa Medeiros are both good reads.

Erin McCarthy's Vegas vamps are fun and I'm not sure about her new Seven Deadly Sins series. I just have the first one, My Immortal in my tbr.

lol, other than that, you have covered all of the vamp authors I know about.

I'm just not sorta getting into the paranormal but I also prefer lighthearted non-violent reads. This one isn't about a vampire but is a very cute short paranormal about a little boy who can make things move, etc. I think it's a Harlequin American Romance and it's Daddy Warlock. I got mine as part of a book bazaar deal and really enjoyed it; I think it's partly why I'm more open to reading paranormal now; that along with Victoria Laurie's Psychic Eye and Ghost  Hunters mysteries!

I have some of Katie Macalister's and a couple of McCarthy's Vegas Vamps in my TBR pile...

Have you tried the Undead series by MaryJanice Davidson? They may skirt a bit on your reqs, but they're pretty good - more "chick lit"-ish than say, the Sooky series.

I read a really cute Blaze that was about a vamp.  http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780373793624-Dead+Sexy+Harlequin+Blaze

I'm on the WL for the 3rd in this series.  It looks like this author, Kimberly Raye, has written a few other vamp books.  Haven't read any of them though.

I really liked Beneath a Blood Red Moon by Shannon Drake. The others in this series aren't bad either, although the later ones weren't that great.

I don't read much contemporary, but I really, really enjoyed the collaboration trilogy by Hannah Howell and Lynsay Sands.  Basically about 2 clans in 15th century Scotland who happen to be vampires and their acquisition of brides.

The Eternal Highlander, My Immortal Highlander, and Highland Thirst

There is also Highland Vampire which is an anthology that contains Howell's story about one of the cousins and father of the hero in the third book.

Kimberly Raye's series starting with "Dead End Dating" might be up your alley, it's very light hearted and stars a female vampire who runs a dating service and juggles her own romantic  (vampiric!) love life.

Thanks ladies for all of these great suggestions!  Some of them I already have in my TBR pile and the rest I've added to my reminder or wish lists.

I found something else that fits the bill.  I've had Amanda Ashley's A Darker Dream on my shelf for a while and picked it up this morning.  I'm only 3 chapters in, but it's a historical romance and the guy is a vamp.  It's good so far and part of a series I think.  I'm going to check the rest of those out too.  If anyone thinks of any others, please post!  :-)

I have one Amanda Ashley book in my tbr, Night's Kiss. I have never read her books but it appears she has quite a few. Is she any good?
