I've read Twilight, New Moon & Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer and they are all fabulously wonderful reads! I would highly reccommend them! Good luck trying to get copies of them from here because after I read these from the library and put them on my wishlist, I realized that a lot of people wanted them too!

I read "Twilight" and thought it was okay.  Maybe because it was hyped SO MUCH to me before I read it...I don't know.  But it didn't strike me as fantastic, or enthralling.  Don't get me wrong; I'm glad I read it, and I didn't hate it...but I don't have a real desire to read the rest.

Thanks for your input.  I am not sure I will like it at all, but I have a friend that HATES to read, that has actually read all 3 books TWICE!  I couldn't believe it so, I thought I would at least try the first one!  Renee'

I really enjoyed Twilight, New Moon was ok, and I completely despised Eclipse.  I am sorry that I read Eclipse, it ruined Twilight for me.

Michelle, that's interesting.  I'm a librarian, and we read Twilight for our monthly book discussion group (we're ALL librarians, ages ranging from 30-ish to 60-ish).  A few women LOVED it and had already read all three.  A few women HATED the teen angst and mood swings.  And a few were like me; it was okay, but no desire to read the rest.  I love young adult fiction, and read quite a bit of it.   But I was content to leave the story at the end of Twilight.

Renee', I'm glad your friend found something they loved to read.  I really believe that everyone is a reader; they just have to find that one book (or series) that makes it "click" for them!

I read them all, and loved them.

why did you hate Eclipse, mlg?  I would put new moon as my least favorite, but I still really enjoyed it.  Of course, I just read them within the last few days, and it usually takes me a while before I get my long term reaction to a book.  I almost always think a book is great when I finish it, then as time moves on, I can see what I didn't like about it.

I can see why people wouldn't enjoy the books, though- and it all depends on what you're looking for.  There's really no deeper themes running through the stories.  Also, it's not very realistic-  vampires aside.  Bella is so extreme and emotional in how she feels and reacts to things.  That made it a fun read forme.  If bella was rational and realistic (and had milder hormones, lol), her romance with Edward would be dull.  However, bella with a real boy in a non-vampire book would be annoying for me.  I enjoyed escaping into such extremes.  Through the series.  Extreme love, passion, depression, danger.

I guess I would say:  If you like realism, skip it.  If you like to be swept away, read.

Monica,

Thanks for your response.  I still haven't read any of them yet, but would like to at least try the first one.  I may try to check it out of our school library next week if they have it.  I will let everyone know what I think!  Renee'

I loved them all.  New Moon was my least favorite though!  When I read them I had found Twilight at Walmart and picked it up.  I hadnt heard anything about it. So I think that made it even better for me.  I had no expectations for it :-)

I read Twilight and was very unimpressed. I didn't hate it but I won't read another in the series. The writing is simplistic and the story had very little depth IMHO. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I had read it in my teens :-)

I've read all 3 and throughly enjoyed them.  My daughter who is 11 and doesn't really enjoy reading also loved them.

I loved them all, even New Moon, and I'm well out of my teens. I have to admit though, that Bella is a tad overwrought. Poor girl doesn't seem to have a "mellow" switch.

Well, I finally checked it out at the library and am about 1/4 of the way through it.  So far it has been interesting.  I had to stop reading for a few days due to having lasik surgery this week!  I am ready to READ again!  I am listening to a Janet Evanovich book on cd until I can read again!  Can't wait!  Renee'

I have all 3 books and I love them! It's one of my favorite series. I also got 3 other friends hooked on them. One of them reads the series, finishes it and starts it again. But did you know, Renee, that's there's going to be a 4th in the series that is suppost to come out in Fall 08 it's called Breaking Dawn and it's suppost to be the last one and they're making a movie out of Twilight.

No, Holly!  I didn't know there would be another one.  I will have to share that with my "non"-reader friend!  She will be thrilled!  I still haven't finished the first one yet. After working all day and coming home, my eyes are a bit tired still.  I hope to finish it this weekend.  Thanks for letting me know about the last book and the movie!  Renee'

I am about 3/4 of the way through Twilight and have enjoyed it! Actually more than I thought I would.   What is your favorite book of the 3?  I can't wait to see how they do Twilight into a movie.  That will be interesting!

I finally finished Twilight last night.  It was very good!  kind of leaves you with that feeling of  "I have to get the next book now!"  I will have to get on my school library "waiting" list.  All of the students are checking these out left and right! haha  I am sure many will be glad when I check this one back in too.  Renee'

Aimee,

I just downloaded New Moon to my mp3 player and am going to begin it tonight!  I wondered if I would enjoy it as much as reading it myself.  I will let you know when I finish!  Renee'

My husband listened to all 3 on his IPod.  He loved them that way ( I can't get him to read )

But I must admit, when I was in the car and heard parts here and there it was REALLY good that way too!
