The story takes place during the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression, but it is not too depressing. Instead, it is more about how a young girl keeps upbeat amid troubles. The young girl Robin, who is traveling with her family in an old Model T, finds herself and them stranded in a town. Her dad gets a job, and and small house to live in, and Robin finds a beautiful empty mansion, that she of course wants to expole. Robin manages to keep up her good spirits and make a place for herself in the town, making several friends. Situations change, there's drama of a fire, a robbery, and a mystery, as well as a scary old lady who lives in the woods. In the end, all works out well for the good people.
