Why would anyone allow a book request to time out when they'd already printed the label?

(I did send a PM stating I would mark the book received upon receipt if the sender would be willing to still mail it.)

I had one of those once. When I complained the woman on the other end sent me a message in all caps saying she had a miscarriage.

I had someone post a book, accept, then it timed out, then they posted it, if I recall correctly they did not accept the 2nd time, then it timed out. The 1st time I can understand, but why the 2nd...? Geez.

The first book I ordered was turned down  by the first sender for my RC, no problem.

Then I had to wait for another book to become available.

Then I ordered they acccepted and printed but never mailed it and it timed out.

They reposted it, I ordered and it got lost in the mail.

Waited until another became available and ordered and that one was a success.

It took  about two months for me to get my first book.

Wow, Valerie. 2 months! I have no reason to complain as when I joined I received WL book offers immediately. Still receiving about 100 WL books per year even after the pay-to-play 2015 changes.

Can you see what state they are in? A lot of people got hit pretty hard by winter storm Jonas. I know here in Raleigh NC, I was snowed/iced in for 3 days and I know several up in VA/DC/MD lost power and were snowed in for a bit longer.

I had a WL book a few weeks ago that was posted, I accepted then nothing, so it timed out, and I went back on the WL. A few days later, here came the book. I marked it received and a few days later I got a PM from the sender saying that she'd had computer problems, so it might be something like that. Pat

I can see an order timing out if you have lost power or internet.

I had one time out on M.L. King day. I couldn't go to the P.O. and I accidentally went over the limit.

It's the old "life happens"... I had one just before Xmas that was never marked mailed and I PMed the member to say I was really hoping to get the book and I didn't mind if she mailed it late, I would mark it received when I got it, etc. The member responded and apologized that she'd just gotten way behind with the holiday and she would mail it. Close to a month passed and just as I'd decided I wasn't going to see that book, it showed up. As it was a book that hadn't been posted in over a year and a half, I was so grateful that the sending member followed thru and did mail it. But it is so frustrating when a rarely posted book is finally posted to your account and then nothing further happens...

I just forgot to go and mark the thing mailed. - OK, I actually did, but navigated away from the page so quickly, I didn't realize the mark never made it to the system.  That happens when I post sometime and site is slow.   Well, it was my fault and didn't expect a credit for it.

When I query about a book, I ways make it clear I know life happens, family emergencies, bad weather, accidents, etc.  I was without a car last week as I had to have a new clutch put in (3 cars and 350,000 miles and never ONCE had a problem with a clutch till this one died) and my neighbor loaned her car to another neighbor who had an accident with HER car, and we had that storm Saturday, so no way to the PO.  Life happens.  I bought a book for the person I owed one to in a game.  If it was FIFO, I would have marked mailed, explain the problem to the receiver in a PM and mailed when I could get there this week.

Interesting things happen here with books.

I had a request turned down this past weekend, as the person lives in the D.C. area and was snowed in.  I also recently received a book PBS canceled after four weeks, as I hadn't received it. I got my credit back, but the book arrived the next day. The postmark was three weeks after the person clicked on the "Book mailed" icon.
